According to CNN, Shapiro on a Harris ticket would have been a 'slap in the face' to Democrat moderates trying to walk a fine line between the extremist slippery AIPAC democrats and the solid center of the Democratic Party.
CNN anchor Audie Cornish even suggested that Josh Shapiro wasn't chosen as Kamala Harris' running mate because it would have been
a "slap in the face" to he called the "activist wing" of the Democratic Party,
which in reality are the moderates who seek a ceasefire in Palestine and want an end to rightwing fanatic pro-Trump Netanyahu's genocide of the Palestinian people, but without succumbing to leftwing extremism either.
According to Cornish, the uncommitted vote is significant, and those people should be heard, emphasizing that the "uncommitted" vote against President Biden during the Democratic primaries reflects a desire to steer away from blind support to rightwing Jewish fanatics in the US (like AIPAC) and in Israel (fundamentalist terrorist Orthodox settler criminals).
Cornish said hat Shapiro is "the face of the crackdown on the [pro-ceasefire, anti-genocide] protests", using the stale run-of-the-mill accusation of antisemitism against any legitimate criticism of Israel which continues to violate every ethical and legal norm under the false pretext of self-defense. In order not to lose that moderate uncommitted Democrat vote, Harris chose to discard Shapiro from the VP line-up for the danger he represents to the party and the country.
Hunt added that Harris might have some regrets if the race comes down to Pennsylvania and former President Trump ends up winning.
CNN's Abby Phillip suggested earlier in the discussion that Harris' choice of Tim Walz was a way to avoid antagonizing the uncommitted vote in Minnesota from the primaries, "those 100,000 uncommitted voters who came out
about the Gaza war, do we want to antagonize those voters?".
