Americans are the largest group of people on earth who use illicit drugs. Their government always blames the cartels (which by the way get their weapons from American gun manufacturers) but it never blames its own population of users.
It takes two to tango. If Americans stopped using illicit drugs, the cartels would die off. Supply and demand.
But it is easier to blame someone else for your problem. Trump's bombing of two boats in the Caribbean is supposedly part of the War on Drugs because he says, without offereing any proof, that the boats carried drugs and drug smugglers.
But shouldn't the American drug users share in the responsibility?
Apparently the Republicans-MAGA-morons do not apply that logic to the gun problem. They say that it is OK to flood the United States with guns, because "guns don't kill; people do". Therefore, taking that argument to the drug trade, I can conclude that "Drugs don't kill. Stupid Americans who use illicit drugs do all the killings from drugs."
If the MAGA morons applied the government's logic on drugs to the gun problem, you'd have the US government bombing gun manufacturers and gun shows, but not prosecuting the users of guns, i.e. murderers, assassins, and mass shooting criminals because, like drug users, they re not responsible for using guns (just as drug users are not responsible for using drugs).
=====================================================
The president has upped the figure he wrongly claims was killed by drugs in the U.S. from massively wrong to impossibly wrong.
President Donald Trump has justified targeting an alleged Venezuelan drug boat by wildly claiming that nearly the entire U.S. population died from overdoses last year. Reporters asked the 79-year-old Trump to respond to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s claim that the U.S. killing of 11 suspected drug smugglers in the Caribbean Sea was “illegal,” and whether he was concerned Venezuela would retaliate. “What’s illegal are the drugs that were on the boat, and the drugs that are being sent into our country, and the fact that 300 million people died last year from drugs, that’s what’s illegal,” Trump said.
