Garcia compares Trump signatures and Epstein birthday note: ‘Certainly looks like the signature to me’
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, displayed numerous signatures of President Trump’s over the years to combat White House claims that the president’s signature on a birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein is a forgery.
“Just last week, our committee released a birthday note that Trump personally wrote to Epstein. It’s right here,” Garcia said in a Thursday panel meeting.
“Now, the cover-up of this note might be just as bad as a crime. … Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit to punish The Wall Street Journal for reporting on the birthday book, which he claimed didn’t exist. Now, of course, we verified that to the world. Now, experts have looked at this. Of course, this is Donald Trump’s signature. It certainly looks like the signature to me.”

A chart displayed by Garcia showed numerous versions of Trump signatures over the years, comparing the one on the 2003 note to Epstein to what was listed as verified Trump signatures from 1987 through 2001.
The White House has claimed the image of the note released by the Epstein estate includes a fake signature by Trump.
The note shows the outline of a female figure with a message in the middle referencing that Trump and Epstein “have certain things in common” — something Garcia said Thursday was “a disgusting message to send to a sex trafficker.”
FBI Director Kash Patel, who appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, told lawmakers he would investigate the alleged forgery.
“You’ve seen the picture of the woman’s body with the president’s signature — he says it’s not his. Will you open up an investigation into Epstein estate for putting out a fake document?” Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) asked.

Patel asked what the basis of such an investigation would be.
“They literally put out a fake document — according to the president — with a fake signature. A forgery of the president of the United States’s signature. That’s the basis,” Moskowitz said.
“Sure, I’ll do it,” Patel responded.
Trump sued The Wall Street Journal for defamation in July after the newspaper published a story detailing the alleged letter Trump sent to Epstein. The White House has continued to deny its authenticity after Epstein’s estate released the letter in question, in response to a subpoena from the Oversight Committee, which is chaired by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.).
“It’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier this month. “President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.”
