US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday sharply criticized Israel for its war on Gaza, the first such tough rebuke yet from the Biden Administration. He said the United States wants Israeli forces to "get out of Gaza" amid what he described as "a horrible loss of life of innocent civilians." He also said Israel’s tactics in the war have failed to neutralize Hamas and could create a power "vacuum" in the Palestinian territory.
When pooled together with Biden's constant reassurances to the Fascist Zionist colony in Palestine of his "steadfast", "rock solid", "ironclad" support, this shows that Biden is desperately trying to salvage his fast disappearing chances in the upcoming November 2024 elections. Biden is terrified at the magnitude of the threat that a large section of his electorate will withhold their vote from him. After refusing for months to oppose the Zionist slaughter of innocent Palestinians civilians across occupied Palestine, he is now backtracking and trying to appease his pro-Palestinian base by pretending to hold a tough line with Israel.
At the same time, he is equally terrified at the prospect of the Zionist lobby truning the screws on him, knowing that the Zionist lobby is much much more comfortable with his rival, the moron Donald Trump, whom they can easily manipulate, just as they did during his first term when he moved the US embassy to Jerusalem and recognized Israeli sovereignty over the annexed Syrian Golan Heights. In fact, Netanyahu is constantly giving his middle finger to Biden in his statements, and is clearly trying to stretch his war in Gaza as long as he can to ensure 1- his own political survival (Israelis are ready to stone him to death whatever the outcome of the war might be), and 2- by squeezing Biden like a dirty rag, Netanyahu is aiming for a victory for Trump who will open the floodgates for a continued Zionist carnage in Palestine.
But policies hatched in desperation and only in reaction to polling are a disaster, not the least for the semblance of trying an insincere and unprincipled balancing act.
When asked about the U.S. withholding high payload bombs to Israel, America’s ally, Blinken said: "We believe two things. One, you have to have a clear, credible plan to protect civilians, which we haven't seen. Second, we also need to see a plan for what happens after this conflict in Gaza is over. And we still haven't seen that because what are we seeing right now? We're seeing parts of Gaza that Israel has cleared of Hamas, where Hamas is coming back, including in the north, including in Khan Younis." In other words, Biden is recognizing that Israel is failing at achieving any of its stated objectives and he is trying to position himself as someone who can tell the Israelis "I told you so".
But it is too late. The damage to both Israel and the US is done. Only 8 countries voted with the US to oppose Palestinian statehood, while 143 countries voted against the US and for the admission of Palestine as a member state at the United Nations last week. Most of these 8 countries are insignificant little islands the US owns in the Pacific. Which means the entire world now stands in opposition to the long standing US policy on Palestine. And this could mean trouble for the US if it lacks a minimum of international support in whatever crises might erupt in the coming years. The challenge to US supremacy is growing and other powerful countries have the means to convince and buy up other countries.
Blinken also said in his interview with CBS: "As we look at Rafah, they [Israelis] may go in and have some initial success, but potentially at an incredibly high cost to civilians, but one that is not durable, one that's not sustainable. And they will be left holding the bag on an enduring insurgency because a lot of armed Hamas will be left, no matter what they do in Rafah, or if they leave and get out of Gaza, as we believe they need to do. Then you're going to have a vacuum and a vacuum that's likely to be filled by chaos, by anarchy, and ultimately by Hamas again."
Blinken also had an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press," where he echoed, for the first time publicly by a U.S. official, the findings of a new Biden administration report to Congress on Friday that said Israel’s use of U.S.-provided weapons in Gaza likely violated international humanitarian law.
"When it comes to the use of weapons, concerns about incidents where given the totality of the damage that’s been done to children, women, men, it was reasonable to assess that, in certain instances, Israel acted in ways that are not consistent with international humanitarian law," Blinken said, condemning "the horrible loss of life of innocent civilians."
Blinken walked out of the "ironclad" support to Israel when he uttered a new huge lie by saying, "We treat Israel, one of our closest allies and partners, just as we would treat any other country, including in assessing something like international humanitarian law and its compliance with that". He said the U.S. continues to work with Arab countries and others for weeks on developing "credible plans for security, for governance, for rebuilding'' in Gaza, but "we haven’t seen that come from Israel. ... We need to see that, too."
After decades of blind support for the Zionist occupation regime, the US must now reckon with the devastating consequences of its policy in the Middle East. It's always like this with the US: initial hubris and arrogance on account of its brute militaristic power that never seems to guarantee its security objectives. The US has not won any war since World War II, except for the easy stroll into Kuwait in 1991 to dislodge Saddam Hussein. All other wars, from Korea and Vietnam, to Cuba, Somalia and Lebanon, Serbia, Iraq and Afghanistan, and even its inability to deter Russia's expansionism in Europe, the US keeps projecting an image of a strong but dumb giant.
It may be too late to undo the damage of decades of creeping illegal colonial Zionist occupation of Palestine with its bevy of killings, apartheid separation, land theft, displacement, home demolitions, settlement expansion and blatant racism, all under the benevolent and approving watch of the US. The US keeps saying it wants a Palestinian state but it has done nothing to effectively achieve this objective, which requires it to stand up to the Zionists who reject the idea and somehow want to keep 6 million Palestinians herded into slavery and compliance by sheer Fascist militaristic means. Maybe Yahweh has assured the dumb Zionists that this plan will work just as the biblical ethnic cleansing of Canaan some 3,000 years ago, a plan apparently laid out and ordered by Yahweh then executed by the Moses-Joshua terrorist tandem. But only primitive and barbaric imbeciles still believe in Yahweh who is obviously dead in the mind of reasonable people, and the Americans are under no obligation to follow the suicidal Zionists like dumb idiots. Not in the 21st century.
