By retreating from her earlier All-Trump MAGA affliction, Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) is adopting a centrist posture, perhaps in view of upcoming elections. But the more important point is that she is becoming a Democrat without saying it loud.
During Obama and Biden's terms, millions of undocumented migrants and immigrants were being deported. But the difference with the Trump savagery, arrests and deportations were carried out quietly, humanely and without the deliberate cruelty of Trump and his racist fascist CBP ans ICE thugs.
So, regardless of whether MTG's Hallelujah is a holy or a broken one (to use Leonard Cohen's lyrics), her metamorphosis is stunning. When she says she "unapologetically believe in border security and deporting criminal illegal aliens and .. supports law enforcement", she is saying what Democrats have long been saying. The only difference, again, between Democrat Obama and Biden's normal sane policies and those of the convicted criminal Donald Trump is "racism" and its associated xenophobia, hatred, fascism and the rest of it.
MTG is even telling her supporters to become Democrats but without explicitly saying it: she is urging her fellow MAGA supporters to “take off their political blinders” over the death of protester Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, warning that they are being “incited into civil war.” That's it: Hear the truth from MAGA themselves: "political blinders" are what Trump is loading on his herd;"incitement to civil war" is exactly what Trump is trying to do.
“I unapologetically believe in border security and deporting criminal illegal aliens and I support law enforcement,” Greene wrote on X Sunday, the day after the fatal shooting. “However, I also unapologetically support the 2nd amendment. Legally carrying a firearm is not the same as brandishing a firearm.”
This is one instance where the 2nd amendment has turned against those who espouse it. When the "God-given" right to own a gun is turned by its own promoters (MAGA etc.) into an attempt to kill police officers, we are hearing a Democrat argument long rejected by the Radical Fascist Right. When Democrats used to argue for limits on gun ownership, they were vilified by the Fascists of Trump's MAGA. Now it is Trump's MAGA that are blaming the assassination of Alex Pretti by ICE goons on his owning a gun!!! The second amendment is not "a la carte", love it when you want and trash it when you don't!
Despite video showing that 37-year-old Pretti was filming federal officers but did not have a weapon drawn, the Trump administration has claimed he had tried to assassinate agents in an act of “domestic terrorism.” The incident was captured from multiple angles, including one that showed Pretti being sprayed with mace and wrestled to the ground while attempting to help a woman who had just been sprayed herself and had fallen to the ground. After being swarmed by around seven officers a shot rings out, followed by at least nine more, and Pretti falls still.

“There is nothing wrong with legally peacefully protesting and videoing,” Greene said.
The former Congresswoman asked MAGA to consider another scenario in which she replaced the protesters in Minnesota with those who supported the action on January 6, when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.
“We lost our minds when we watched Biden’s FBI track down and aggressively carry out home invasions and arrest… peaceful J6’ers who walked in the Capitol through open doors,” she said.
“Imaging [sic] if one of our MAGA independent journalists or even just a MAGA supporter stood in the street outside a J6’ers house while Biden’s FBI carried out a law enforcement operation, home invasion, and arrest.

“Then Biden’s FBI goes to the MAGA guy videoing it all and shoves a woman with him to the ground and sprays them with bear spray then throws the MAGA guy to the ground as MAGA guy was trying to help the woman off the ground. Then Biden’s FBI beats MAGA guy on the ground, disarms MAGA guy, and then shoots him dead.
“What would have been our reaction? Both sides need to take off their political blinders. You are all being incited into civil war [By Trump], yet none of it solves any of the real problems that we all face, and tragically people are dying.”
Pretti’s death is the second fatal shooting to involve federal agents in Minneapolis in less than three weeks, following the killing of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good on January 7. Tensions and clashes between demonstrators have increased, as well as those between state and federal authorities.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said earlier Sunday that residents, as well as his own police department have “had enough.”

“This police department has only 600 police officers. We are stretched incredibly thin. This has taken an enormous toll trying to manage all of this chaos on top of trying to be the police department for a major city,” O’Hara told CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday.
O’Hara noted that he has received no official information from the federal government related to Saturday’s shooting. “Even when our officers initially responded to the scene, our watch commander was not given even the most basic information that is typical in a law enforcement-involved shooting,” he said.
While the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was blocked from the scene of the shooting Saturday by federal officials, they were allowed access Sunday to canvas for witnesses.
Greene’s comments represent the latest instance of her breaking from MAGA orthodoxy. Previously a firebrand Trump loyalist, she has publicly broken from the president in recent months over issues including the Epstein files and foreign policy. She stood down from Congress earlier this month.
She has become a Democrat without acknowledging it.

A former Washington, D.C. homicide cop called out the White House for misrepresenting Saturday’s shooting by a Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis in a stunning takedown on Fox News.
Appearing on Fox’s special coverage of the shooting Saturday night, the former cop, Ted Williams — who is now a Fox News contributor — was unsparing in his criticism of the White House, including Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. In a statement Saturday, Miller called Alex Pretti — the 37-year-old man who was gunned down Saturday — a “domestic terrorist.”
“I’ve gotta tell you, I’ve watched that videotape for at least about — let’s say, a hundred times — because I knew I was going to be coming on with you,” Williams told Fox News anchor Jon Scott. “And I wanted to speak as accurate as I can…And I do believe that there needs to be a complete investigation. I was taken aback by the White House who initially put out what I defined as misrepresentation of what took place there when you look at the video. It was said that Mr. Pretti was banishing a weapon. Well, he was not brandishing the weapon. Yes, he did have a weapon. It was said by the White House that Mr. Pretti attacked those agents. No, he did not attack those agents. And one of the White House individuals called Mr. Pretti a domestic terrorist…this man is dead, he has a family, and to go out and call him a domestic terrorist without giving any more information is just unacceptable!”
Williams continued:
And then Jon, when I looked at the video, what you saw was an agent pushing a woman side, Mr. Pretti getting sprayed, them jumping on top of Mr Pretti. And this is something that our audience should see with their own eyes. You can see where one of the agents actually physically takes Mr. Pretti’s gun. And that is before he shot. And then all of a sudden he’s shot, there’s a pause and there are more bullets that are shot in his direction. So that investigation, what I’m asking is that there be a complete and thorough and transparent investigation done not only by the federal agencies, but also by the state and local investigators also working together.
Scott proceeded to question whether Pretti was “asking for some kind of trouble” by bringing a firearm to a protest.
“The question I’ve asked a number of times today, Ted, is who goes to a protest and brings a gun?” Scott asked. “I mean, was he not asking for some kind of trouble in that situation?”
Williams did not believe that to be the case at all.
“I really don’t think so, Jon,” Williams said. “Look, I’ve been on this channel on numerous occasions where we talk about the Second Amendment and the right to carry firearms. And I’ve known people to go to demonstrations before in the past and to have firearms with them. He didn’t do anything with that firearm. That man is dead. And there’s a question mark as to whether he should have been killed under these circumstances. And all that I’m asking is that the White House… quiet down on this, that the state and local government quiet down on this, let there be a complete and thorough investigation to try to determine what took place here.”
