Chris Watts is behind bars for the 2018 murders of his pregnant wife and two daughters — but he’s been in constant contact with multiple women, according to a Tuesday, January 20, report in the Daily Mail.
“God had a plan for me. He wants me in prison. This is His will, just like it was His will for Jesus to die for us,” Watts, 40, wrote to a woman only identified as Deborah in October 2025, according to the Daily Mail. “He wants to bring people closer to him through my suffering.”
“I will never fully understand what Christ went through when he was crucified, but my trials have given me a glimpse of it,” he reportedly added in his letters to Deborah.

According to Deborah, who revealed she first reached out to the convicted murderer in 2022, Watts told her he had converted to Christianity while in prison. However, in late 2025, he explained that they “couldn’t be together.”
“I believe that in a different time, I would have been able to be with you. But God has other plans for my life,” he wrote.

Deborah is just one of many women with whom Watts has maintained a relationship from prison, the outlet reported on Tuesday, January 20.
The Colorado man is currently serving three consecutive life sentences at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun, Wisconsin, after being found guilty of strangling his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and suffocating their daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. Watts confessed to police that he was having an affair with another woman at the time of the killings.
