Dictator Trump's military just took control of Washington DC's Union Station, in a sweeping campaign to militarize and take control of the streets of Democrat cities which Trump claims are rampant with crime.
His Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy was inaugurating the launch of a new fleet of high-speed Acela trains for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor route (linking Democrat cities like Baltimore, Boston, New York). The achievement of high-speeed rail in the United States is decades behind Japan and Europe and other countries, and testifies to the misplaced priorities of a US that is recalcitrant to join the 21st century.
US automobile manufacturers have long lobbied against high speed rail because people would abandon their cars for cleaner, cheaper and safer travel across the US. Be that as it may, Trump's priorities are completely out of wack with what the country needs. The country has lots of big balls and muscle and very little brains.
It was Barack Obama and Joe Biden who established high speed rail as a priority in US transportation, but they couldn't find US manufacturers who could deliver because the US, again under pressure from the automobile lobby, had invested very little in the sector. Right now, the ACELA trains that MAGA imbecile Sean Duffy was inaugurating and bragging about as a Trump achievment were orderd by Barack Obama and made in Québec (75%) by the giant Québecois manufacturer Bombardier and France (25%).
And as Trump is badgering and bullying all other countries and fighting silly windmills in Washington DC, crimes by NRA-lobbied and MAGA-approved guns continue to plague schools, churches and other places where people gather. Some nut carrying LEGALLY-OBTAINED GUNS in Minneapolis just killed two children and injured 17 others at a Catholic school church.
All these events point to the misplaced priorities of Trump's white christian nationalist government. His priorities are to "bleach" the country of non-whites and foreigners, legal or otherwise, take military control of the country so he can cheat in the upcoming elections, create a cult around his stupid self, protect his disgusting involvement in the Epstein scandal, installing a lawless dictatorship and combating judges and the separation of powers, and maintain power in the hands of a dwindling white majority of anglo-saxon stock immigrants.
Trump's priority is to institutionalize racism against decades of constitutional adjustments aiming at repairing the American holocaust of African slaves and Indigenous Indians that is at the heart of the nation's birth. He wants to erase that history from textbooks and museums. He keeps firing intelligent and highly qualified African-American women from administrative positions in the US government afer insulting each one without exception as "low IQ", he the ignorant illiterate idiot who can barely read what is written for him on the teleprompter. With a teleprompter, his "speeches" are a diarrhea of incoherence, mispronounced words and names, and utterly unintelligible drivel. His problem with African American women is two fold: They're women (whom he likes to grab by the pussy when he feels like it) and they're Black (which for a pro-slavery racist like him is by definition "inferior").
Trump is militarily occupying Washington DC to fight the homeless, while his gun-toting idiots in the Midwest and the South go on shooting random people in their places of assembly. Crime is intrinsic to the US. The US was born out of the rape of the American continent by white European colonial thugs pretending to do it for God.
Because of corporate lobbies, the executive and legislative powers on the US remain at the mercy of established corporations that are too lazy to make the changes necessary and too fearful of upsetting their greedy stakeholders.
Trump is inaugurating high speed rail whose components are made in Canada and France, while he is fighting universities (because the Zio-Nazi Stephen Miller tells him that they are antisemitic) and gutting all basic research and stripping the US of any advantages in novel technologies.
Trump is encouraging fossil fuel economies (combustion engines....) while the entire world is slowly switching to state-of-the-art renewable energies. The US is way behind China, Japan and Europe in electric vehicles because the gas-guzzling US automobile industry doesn't want to switch and upset its sister oil companies.
For many foreigners who visit the US, the first impression they get is that the US is the Third World of the First World: Electric lines run along and disfigure streets with above ground poles (advanced countries have them all underground), electric power is still 110 volts (all other countries have switched to 220 volts), still stuck in 19th century vintage Fahrenheit degrees, inches, yards, and miles while the entire world runs on centimeters, meters and kilometers.
Trump's anger at the world is not the world's fault. Trump's anger is because of his own backwardness and refusal to embrace change. As the world changes, the very conservative and ultra-religious US waxes nostalgic of times that are never coming back, and the more attached to this archaic past, the further behind it will fall.
The US is still en experiment. It is not a "finished, polished" country. It is work in progress. Despite claims otherwise, the US is not yet a nation. It is an experiment in governance, it is an experiment in demographics, it is an experiment in inter-cultural integration.
In biological evolution, when members of one species become separated from their original group and isolated by a mountain, an ocean or on an island, they begin to genetically drift into another species. But at first, as soon as that separation or isolation takes place, this new group stops pauses, stops evolving as it adjusts to its new environment. This is where America is. It has stopped evolving and is making itself an identity before resuming its evolution. Just like a teenager transitioning from childhood into adulthood, it has acne, it has bouts of hormonal violence, it is still silly and doesn't understand the world, it hates its parents and hates school....

Trump Seizes Control of Train Station After Vance and Miller’s PR Stunt Humiliation

President Donald Trump’s administration is taking control of Washington D.C.’s Union Station after three of his top officials were loudly heckled during a botched PR stunt at the transit hub.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy—a former contestant in Road Rules—announced Wednesday that his department would reclaim management of the nation’s second-busiest rail terminal as part of the administration’s sweeping efforts to tighten control over the capital.
Duffy was at Union Station to launch a new fleet of high-speed Acela trains for Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor route between D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York and Boston—trains which were first ordered under President Barack Obama in 2016, and which will benefit from infrastructure investments made as part of President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Act.

The controversial federal takeover of D.C. has included deploying National Guard soldiers to patrol the streets, assisting police in tackling crime, and picking up trash.
“Instead of being a point of pride, Washington’s Union Station has fallen into disrepair,” Duffy said in a statement reported by The Washington Post. “By reclaiming station management, we will help make this city safe and beautiful at a fraction of the cost.”

The move came a week after Vice President JD Vance, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth were booed and jeered with chants of “Free D.C.” as they attempted a photo op with National Guard troops stationed at Union Station, complete with boxes of cheeseburgers.
The officials were also greeted with shouts of “f---ing Nazi” and “get the f--- out of my city.” One heckler even called Vance a “couch f---er,” a reference to a baseless meme claiming the vice president wrote about having sex with a couch in his Hillbilly Elegy memoir, which became a meme during the 2024 election.
During the chaotic visit, Vance was asked by the press why troops were being stationed in the rail station instead of areas of the city with higher crime rates.
In response, Vance suggested Union Square, one of the country’s biggest rail hubs, was full of “vagrants, drug addicts, the chronically homeless and the mentally ill,” which makes visitors to the capital feel unsafe.
He said he had brought his children there “a couple of years ago” and claimed, “they were being screamed at by violent vagrants.”
The station had been badly hit in 2020 by the collapse of travel but has been recovering since. It is second only to New York Penn Station for passenger use although with 70,000 a day using it, it is small by international standards.
The nonprofit Union Station Redevelopment Corp manages Union Station. The Trump administration’s plans for a full takeover of Union Station are expected to be completed in September, according to Reuters.
The Department of Transportation now plans upgrades to lighting, elevators, and the roof as part of its takeover. However the nonprofit was already working on an expansion and upgrade using money from the Biden administration’s spending plans.
The ownership and management of the station was handed to the nonprofit in 1983 after the building underwent a major restoration. Since then it has been responsible for its upkeep while it is now policed solely by Amtrak Police, already under the command of Duffy.
A year ago, while Joe Biden was still president, the DOJ published an article on declining crime and homelessness at the station.
But this year MAGA supporter Scott Jennings witnessed a fatal shooting inside the terminal and posted about it to X, while the Washington Post reported that Duffy’s wife—Fox News weekend anchor Rachel Campus Duffy—passed through the station not long after the killing.
