US-Born White American Coach at O.C. high school accused of sexual relationship with minor girl

Michael Joseph Duran is no migrant or immigrant. He is a perfectly legal white American adult male who coaches basketball at an Orange County high school. The 44-year-old man is accused of grooming a female student and carrying on a sexual relationship with her, authorities announced Wednesday. 

Why has he escaped arrest and detention by ICE remains a mystery. He "kind of looks like an immigrant" with brown hair and brown eyes.

In a news release, investigators with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Detail allege that Aliso Viejo resident Michael Joseph Duran had a sexual relationship with a minor female victim between 2024 and 2025. 

“The victim was subsequently contacted, and an investigation ensued,” the release stated. “The victim alleged that Duran, while working as a high school assistant basketball coach at Dana Hills High School, groomed and had and had a sexual relationship with her.”

It was later learned that the 44-year-old was also involved as a basketball coach with a club in San Juan Capistrano known as SoCal Fins. 

“Due to Duran’s position as a basketball coach of minor females, SVD investigators believe there may be additional victims,” authorities noted.

It is currently unclear if Duran is still employed with Dana Hills High School or the basketball club in San Juan Capistrano. 

The 44-year-old was taken into custody Aug. 13 and booked at the Orange County Jail for oral copulation with a minor under the age of 18.

White US-born Female South Carolina teacher charged with child sex crimes...

The South Carolina Board of Education has suspended teacher Nicole Callaham for sexually abusing a teenage minor student. Callaham faces multiple charges, including unlawful conduct toward a child and felony counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The former Homeland Park Primary teacher was arrested in Anderson County for the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy, dating back to 2021. The Board of Education stated it has reason to believe that Callaham may pose a significant threat to students. The charges against her highlight serious allegations that have prompted swift action from educational officials.

Callaham was granted bond and placed under house arrest with GPS monitoring following her arrest in July.

The suspension of her license will remain in effect until due process is completed.
