Despair at what? At the facts that:
- white anglo-saxon protestants (WASP) in the US are on a steep demographic decline, projected to lose their majority status and become the largest minority some time this century.
- there is enough of a critical mass of non-white, non-anglo-saxon, non-protestant people in the US with a higher fertility rates who were absorbed as US citizens during the European white settler expansion.

Many, if not the bulk of, Americans in these states are of Spanish and/or Hispanic descent. According to the MAGA-GOP racists, these people are "kind-of" white, but not white enough, and hence undesirable.

French people are "white" and are not the object of hate (except for their Catholicism) by the English-KKK-stock of today's racists in the US. But it is included here to show that the US was not born as the MAGA racists dream of it. When it was born at the 1776 revolution, it was a relatively tiny strip of land along the East Coast that housed the 13 English colonies. (New England Colonies: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. The Middle Colonies: Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, and the Southern Colonies: Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.).
Black Americans too are part of the same founding stock of Americans since they were brought to this country with the very first English crooks who landed in Virginia in August 1619. As such, they are even more deserving of their American citizenhood as any of the white barbarians that came after them. These Black Americans represent about 12.5% of the present population, and do not include the millions of Black Africans who arrived to the US as immigrants from Africa or the Caribbean and Latin America. Overall, all people who identify as Black Americans are about 20% of the population.
And not to forget the native Amerindians who were once tagged with having "red skin" and whose DNA is perhaps in every one of us after hundreds of years of rapes and illegitimate breeding.
Not one American alive today can claim racial or genetic "purity". All Americans are bastards of one type or another. Not one American I asked about their origin claimed to be "pure" - the question is "pure" what? - Pure English? As in those who arrived on the Mayflower? Pure Irish? Pure German? Does "pure white" include white Caucasians whose culture, genetics and traditions are as alien to the English crooks as anyone from the far corners of the world?
Let me explain the absurdity of racism, especially white racism against non-whites, on the basis of genetics. Human skin color is determined by one factor: The pigment melanin.
On one extreme, there are NO people with "pure" white skin, i.e. without any melanin at all. The closest to to this extreme reduction of melanin in our skin are the albinos. Someone with no melanin would die immediately from exposure to the sun.
On the other extreme, there are NO people with absolutely pitch-black skin. Someone with so much melanin would also not survive because blocking all sunlight prevents the production of vitamin D (essential for bone health, immune function, and calcium absorption) and causes problems related to the body's rhythms (sleep, mood, and adaptation to seasons.
These extremes have been eliminated by natural selection, and all of us humans vary by how much melanin we have in our skin cells. Starting with from the albino extreme, I can think of people with beige, tan, brown, black, mahogany, maroon, burgundy, sienna, ochre, copper, taupe, khaki, chocolate, burnt umber or orange, etc. Some of these people might be perceived as "White" while others might be perceived as "Black". The question is where do you draw the line between what is "white" and what is "black" skin. Since Americans are of such a high levels of racial bastardization, not one of them can claim to be pure white or pure black.
The second critical point is that humans differ by literally millions of differences in their genes, and therefore in the components of their bodies, whether we see those differences or not. Some of these differences are visible, including skin color, eye color, height, weight, bone structure, various shapes of shoulders, hips etc. But even as these visible differences appear significant to us, they are a very insignificant tiny fraction of the millions of differences that we don't see, that are invisible to us. All the proteins, fats, sugars, etc. that make up our bodies beneath the skin vary from one individual to another.
For example, there are people with a very strong alcohol dehydrogenase enzyme (ADH, to name just one of those millions of differences) compared to others. ADH breaks down the alcohol our body makes or the alcohol we ingest. We don't see that enzyme in our blood, liver, kidneys, brain, stomach... we cannot tell one person with weak ADH from one person with strong ADH by just looking at them. We might see the impact of that difference when people drink: Some can digest alcohol and have no problem drinking it. Others with weak ADH cannot tolerate alcohol and get sick if they drink it.
The lesson here is that stupid racist humans like MAGA or the KKK judge people on their skin's content of melanin, but do not judge people on their ability to digest and process alcohol. And ADH is only ONE of a million similar differences between humans. On skin color we discriminate, we deport, we deny, we judge, we lynch, we enslave, we whip...., but on ADH we don't.
Can you see now how ignorant and stupid racism is?
The point of this review is that no one can claim superiority or supremacy on the basis of skin color. Should I hate someone with a 50% Melanin Index in their skin, and feel chummy with someone with a 40% Melanin Index?
Those whom Trump and his MAGA cabal of white racists want to cull from the US population (by deportations, expulsions, etc.), or prevent from becoming US citizens (by birthright citizenship denial, limiting immigration from "shithole" countries, persecution, immigration obstacles, etc.), or by forcibly sterilizing visitors to the US, are essentially people with a Melanin Index that crosses an imaginary threshold in the eyes of the dumb racist white beholder.
Hard as they try, Trump's racists might as well know or learn that people with high Melanin Indices are already genetically embedded in the US population. Efforts by the racist Radical-White-Right neo-KKK Fascists to "keep" America white are not only ignorant, barbaric and uncivilized for a country built by immigrants and people who are all from somewhere else, but are also futile and plain stupid.
Even if the racist white trash cabal of Trump manages to completely cut off all new immigration from undesirable races and ethnicities, the breeding that has already taken place and that continues to date between all these groups will, in time, create a bunch people that are neither recognizably white nor recognizably non-white. The melting pot, as it were, has already cooked up a new breed of people who are unlike anything the racist white imbeciles imagine. Perhaps, Trump's MAGA should gather a bunch of their ignorant "scientists" like RFK Jr. and other quacks and determine what a qualifying Melanin Index would be for anyone wishing to immigrate to this wilderness of ignorance, violence, racism and hatred.
As you can see, the whole tempest in a tea cup that Trump's MAGA racists are brewing over birthright citizenship is a dud. It is based on stupid hateful racism trying to hide behind a veneer of legality. A very tiny fraction of all births in the US are attributed to mothers who are unlawfully present in the US.
Only as little as 2,000 babies are born in the US to mothers who deliberately enter the US pregnant to give birth in the US and give their child the US citizenship, the so-called "Birth Tourism". These mothers are in the country LEGALLY, though, having obtained an entry or visitor's visa.
The "unlawfully present" category does NOT include the lawfully present foreign-born mothers, the lawfully present mothers married to US citizens, the lawfully present mothers who are simply visiting the US on a legal visa, or the lawfully present mothers who are here on a student visa and who become pregnant. The MAGA effort to Make America White Again is not about national security or legality or the numbers; it is simply a hateful racist white supremacist effort whose ignorance cannot be overstated.

Congress should restrict birthright citizenship, House speaker says

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said in a July 5 Fox News interview that Congress should take up a legislative effort to curtail birthright citizenship in the wake of the Supreme Court striking down an executive order from President Donald Trump that sought to redefine who is an American.
The Louisiana Republican said on "Fox News Sunday" that the current immigration system is being abused by "birthright tourism" and said that the practice has "devalued" citizenship.
"It's a threat to the rule of law and national security. We do need to address it," Johnson said.
He did not say what piece of legislation would address the matter but that Republicans are "looking at all angles." "If there is a bill that can fix that, we'll advance that immediately," Johnson said.

President Donald Trump called on Congress to pass legislation in the wake of his loss at the high court, claiming that "No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary!"
Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said children born to parents who are unlawfully or temporarily in the United States satisfy the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment, which states, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
A majority of justices found that birthright citizenship is constitutionally protected under the 14th Amendment. Amending the Constitution would require support from two-thirds of both chambers of Congress and ratification by three-fourths of the nation's state legislatures.
In a concurring opinion, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said Congress could establish exceptions to birthright citizenship for children born to people in the country illegally.
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, and Rep. Brian Babin, R-Texas, two Trump allies, introduced legislation last year to ban birthright citizenship. The bill acknowledges the right of birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment but narrows the definition of persons who are "subject to the jurisdiction" of the United States.
"Birth tourism" is the name authorities give to the practice of parents traveling briefly to the United States to deliver children so the child obtains U.S. citizenship.
The number of babies born to birth tourists in the U.S. is highly disputed because the government does not track the figures. Estimates from researchers have varied from as high as 39,000 annually to as low as 2,000.
But a group of 140 university professors told the Supreme Court in a written argument that birth tourism "accounts for an infinitesimal proportion of children" born in the U.S.
Republicans and Democrats disagree about the importance of acting to curtail birth tourism, with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, previously calling it a "blatant abuse of our immigration laws" while Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vermont, saying it was a "pretty marginal issue."
Johnson suggests new route for SAVE America Act
In the same interview July 5, Johnson said that he will attempt to pass the SAVE America Act, a Trump-backed election reform bill, through budget reconciliation.
"We're going to try one more time on a budget reconciliation bill, and I think that will be the way to get it through the Senate, and finally to the president's desk," Johnson said.
The bill and other House business stalled after a group of Republicans, led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Florida, revolted on a procedural motion that led to the chamber being put to recess.
"I just decided it was best to send everybody home to go celebrate July Fourth in their districts. We'll come back, gather everybody together," Johnson said on Fox News. "The big urgency is to get SAVE America passed. The president has that as a top priority, and so do I."
The strict rules in the Senate around budget reconciliation have already prevented the bill from being a part of previous reconciliation bills. Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled earlier this year that the bill violated rules that prevent "extraneous" legislation from being included in the budget process under reconciliation, according to CNN.
