Traditional Democrats, always the cowards in confronting the GOP-MAGA violence in like manner, seem to have missed out on the tenor of Mamdani's and Newsom's victory speeches.
Axelrod and Jones - so-called Democrat strategists - want Mamdani to "apologize" for bringing the US into modernity as if being a socialist is a crime or something to be ashamed about. Whatever happened to the war of ideas?
They want him to cower and play the cutsie little tolerated immigrant Democrat who defers, like they do, to the criminal Republicans, their arrogance, and their monopoly on a fake patriotism that works miracles among the MAGA herd of morons.
They haven't yet learned from several years of Donald Trump's criminality and violation of every norm and law. They still claim to want neutrality and civility when they are facing the Republican barbarians gathering at the gate. They don't seem to understand that "fighting" barbarity and cruelty requires, well, "fighting" with an equal register of toughness and virulence that the MAGA-Republicans have no compulsion to use against Democrats.
Apparently, Zohran Mamdani’s fiery, 25-minute victory speech Tuesday night left old-school and stale Democratic strategists David Axelrod and Van Jones a bit stunned, the poor things. They wanted more of the “warmth” Mamdani displayed on the campaign trail, and a call to unify New York City. This pretense to sticking to principles long ago trashed and rejected by their GOP enemies is where Democrats always fail.
Mamdani is a the 34-year-old socialist and state lawmaker from Queens. He made history Tuesday night as he was elected the city’s first Muslim immigrant mayor after a hard-fought battle with the corrupt establishment Republican and sexual molester, the former Italian Gov. Andrew Cuomo - a chameleon Democrat like Axelrod and Jones - and the garbage Republican candidate, Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa.
Traditionalist Democrats have preferred white Biden to black Obama. Theirs is a shy approach to politics, letting the Republicans walk all over them. They don't have the smarts to fight ugly when necessary and instead of applauding Mamdani's no-holds-barred defiance of the status quo, they cower back in their comfort zone: To be the shadows of the Republicans.
In his victory speech Mamdani wished Cuomo “only the best in private life,” affirming, “Let tonight be the final time I utter his name.” Indeed, Cuomo and that Sliwa imbecile have used vile racist and dangerous language against Mamdani, accusing him of cheering September 11 and of being a "Marxist Jihadist". Instead of applauding Mamdani for telling Donald Trump, “To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us” or "I am Donald Trump's worst nightmare", both of which are a call to unity among Democrats, the neanderthals Axelrod (who is Jewish and who is likley less enchanted by a Muslim mayor) and Jones want Mamdani to lay like a supine peacenik before the criminal Republican-MAGA enterprise.
Axelrod was one of Barack Obama’s most senior advisers during his administration, and Jones briefly served as an environmental adviser in the Obama administration.
Axelrod says he “was disappointed by [the speech] because this was his big introduction to the city as the new mayor,” said Axelrod. “This was a shouted speech, not a talk with the city on the night of his election, ushering in a new era.” Same old and tired formulas that have failed both Obama and Biden in the face of the monstrosity represented by Donald Trump's rape of the constitution and the country.
The only thing Axelrod was happy about in Mamdani's speech is, you guessed right, is Mamdani's denunciation of antisemitism, which by now has replaced the American pledge of allegiance: Before one is an American, one must denounce the theoretical antisemitism that that the Zionits and their GOP poodles use as a leash on the necks of Americans.
Jones, too, seemed a bit surprised by the speech and said that he felt Mamdani “missed an opportunity” and the “tone was off.” “I think the Mamdani that we saw in the campaign trail, who was a lot more calm, who was a lot warmer, who was a lot more embracing, was not present in that speech,” Jones said, wallowing in old-fashioned sentimental crap that Democrats never miss to fall into.
“I think his tone was sharp. I think he was using the microphone in a way that he was almost yelling,” Jones added. “And that‘s not the Mamdani that we‘ve seen on TikTok and the great interviews and stuff like that. So I felt like it was a little bit of a character switch here.”
In other words, traditionalist Democrats are terrified of Mamdani's tough posturing vis-a-vis the criminals of MAGA and the GOP. They want him to cower back into "what is expected of him", instead of standing up fearlessly against those who are bent on destroying the country.
Meanwhile, Trump's lackeys and killers of free speech want Mamdani to "apologize" for being a Socialist. Hahahahaaaa. No wonder the world sees Americans, especially Republicans, as dumb idiots.
Scott Jennings, a Republican who served in the George W. Bush administration, has over the past year defended Donald Trump's savagery of the US constitutional order. Instead of standing up to Trump like Bush did, Jennings too has cowered to the Supreme Mafioso Trump and is afraid of him. But he picked up on the novel direction that Mamdani might take the country in, when he said that “[Mamdani] put every old guard national Democrat on notice...This man sounded like a national candidate”.
Indeed, it is the old guard of both parties that need to go and make way for a younger generation that is not afraid of its own fresh ideas, nor is it afraid of calling a spade a spade when it comes to Donald Trump's criminal enterprises.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, who served as White House communications director in the first Trump administration, said that Mamdani’s speech “felt Trumpian.” And that is precisely the point. We need Democrats who are not afraid of their own shadows and who hurl insults at Trump and his accomplices in crime. No, Mamdani did not need to "rise up" to the occasion; to the contrary, he needed to go down the Republican sewers in order to better fight them. They play dirty, we play dirty. Stop the sissy crap that made the Democrats lose over the past 15 years.
At this moment in US history, we need political fighters.
As an example of how Mamdani is rattling the bones of the MAGA Republicans is how infuriated were MAGA pundits at Zohran Mamdani’s response to bomb threats that temporarily disrupted Election Day operations in seven New Jersey counties.
Mamdani, the New York City mayor-elect, said the non-credible threats were “incredibly concerning” and "an illustration of the attacks we’re seeing in our democracy," adding, “we have to understand this as part of the general approach the Trump administration has taken to trying to intimidate voters with baseless allegations of voter fraud as a means of trying to repress the voice of Americans across this country.” A bull's-eye.
“And when we think about how best to fight Trump,” Mamdani added, “one way we can do so is by understanding Andrew Cuomo for what he is, the candidate endorsed by Trump, Elon (Musk), and Stephen Miller.”
