German police say the suspect - a Saudi immigrant - was an Islamophobe and a backer of right-wing German parties. Odd, isn't it? We are used to Muslim immigrants operating as Islamist terrorists and attacking non-Muslim targets.
But sometimes, immigrants take extremist anti-immigrant positions as a way to protect themselves against the tag of the non-adjusted, non-integrated immigrant. They become more "native" than the natives. I've seen it in many Lebanese immigrants in various western countries where they radicalize themselves against their own immigrant communities in order, so they stupidly think, to be accepted by their native hosts. I worked for a few years in a small company in the US where the Lebanese immigrant boss forbade me from using my real name and made me adopt an Americanized version of it, forbade me from speaking our native language in front of his other employees, and did everything he could to deny his own identity, for fear of appearing "Arab" and losing clients. It was so pathetic. But that is what you become when you live under a socially totalitarian system like the US: Conformity is the norm.
So I do not buy the presumed motives of the Saudi immigrant as told by German police. The man is either a very competent liar and hypocrite for establishing trust for 20 years before passing into action, or he is a truly deranged immigrant who tried to "fit in" as a "real" German so strenously that he ended up blowing up and committing his act. Why has he never tried to change his name - Taleb al-Abdulmohsen - to a more acceptable Germanized name is perhaps indicative of the underlying psychosis that results from the conflict between being oneself and developing a mental hernia trying to fit in.
Fundamentally, there are two underlying unspoken reasons or motives for the Magdeburg car ramming attack by this Saudi immigrant:
Either: Saudi Muslim fanaticism built over decades of the drive to islamize Europe – Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations funded madrassas, mosques, and other Muslim “missionary” works in Europe and the West between the 1970s and the early 2000s; The attacker is a Saudi doctor (do no harm?) living in Germany for 20 years. Remember that 16 out of the 19 terrorists who carried out Bin Laden’s attack on the New York City’s World Trade Center in September 2001 were Saudis.
Or: Given Germany’s blind support of Israel and its supplying it with weapons to carry out its genocide against the Palestinian people in occupied Palestine, some people feel so much kinship with the Palestinian victims that they lose a bolt in their nervous system and pass to action.
Why attack a Christmas market? It draws large numbers of people and it sends a subtle religious message of “us versus them”.
Bottom line: There is a convergence between 1- what seems to be a centuries-old religious war by Islam against the Christian world on one hand, and 2- a simmering rage in Muslim countries on account of the tragedy of the colonization of Palestine by mostly German Jews.
1- Islam tried to overtake Christian Europe from two directions: From the west through North Africa and into Spain, where Muslims ruled for some 600 years; and from the east through the Ottoman invasion and islamization of the Balkans. The Saudis of the 1970s-2000s, discovered that they could use their oil wealth to attempt an islamization of the west with missionary-like work (building mosques, dispatching preachers, teaching Arabic, sending settlers as immigrant sleeping cells, etc.). The climax of this campaign was that it cascaded into world-wide Islamic terrorism.
2- The tragedy of the destruction of historic Palestine by European, mostly German, Jews is the only ongoing colonization project still ongoing after the decolonization post world War II. In essence, and regardless of the fake compassion over the Holocaust and the anachronistic religious biblical justifications, the Christian Europeans rid themselves of their Jewish populations by systematically killing millions of them and dispatching the remaining ones to destroy an innocent nation, Palestine, annihilate its population, culture , and history, and replace it with a brand new synthetic western colony called Israel.
The combination of these two parameters definitely - and perhaps subliminally - played a role in the attack of the Magdeburg Christmas market.
