Four suspects arrested in Montgomery County after multi-agency search

CHERRYVALE, Kan. — Wednesday morning, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced a successful multi-agency execution of a search warrant in Cherryvale, from Thursday, April 10.

Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), and officers from the Cherryvale Police Department executed a search warrant in the 200 block of North Neosho Street in Cherryvale.

The report says all occupants within the home were detained safely and that the search warrant was a part of a multifaceted investigation into suspected narcotics activity as well as multiple burglaries.

Officers say they located and seized a plethora of illegal items, including more than six grams of fentanyl, in addition to methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and multiple firearms and other items identified as stolen from a current case at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say that as a result of the evidence located in the residence, the following people were taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail:

Jeremiah McKenzie

• Jeremiah McKenzie: distribute opiate (Fentanyl) within 1000 feet of a school, criminal possession of a weapon by felon, criminal use of weapons; shotgun barrel < 18″, possession of stimulant (Methamphetamine), possession of stolen property, use/possess drug paraphernalia

Ashley Melia

• Ashley Melia: possession of opiate (Fentanyl), possession of stimulants (Methamphetamine), criminal use of weapons; shotgun barrel < 18″, use/possess of drug paraphernalia

Ragan Myers

• Ragan Myers: distribute opiate (Fentanyl) within 1000 feet of a school, criminal use of weapons; shotgun barrel < 18″, possession of opiate (Fentanyl), possession of stimulant (methamphetamine), possession of stolen property, use/possess drug paraphernalia

Destany Freeman

• Destany Freeman: use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia

The case will be sent to the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office for official charges. The investigation is ongoing.
