Chinese Exclusion Act II: Trump's First Objective

The US passed the federal Chinese Exclusion Act law in 1882, which prohibited any immigration from China for 10 years. After using and abusing the first Chinese immigrants who had arrived in the 1840s to build America's railroads, the white xenophobes of the country feared that the different culture would "dilute the white blood". They also feared the competition from the otherwise disciplined and thrifty Chinese workers and gold miners.

The law was the first US law ever to target a specific ethnic group. The racist white English-stock peasant immigrants then began a long campaign targeting other immigrants in a country founded on illegal immigration: Besides the free labor of Black African slaves on the southern plantations, the whites needed workers to accopmany the industrial revolution.

After the Chinese, it was the turn of other groups to be targeted by the otherwise constipated Protestant English peasants, who themselves had earlier claimed to be fleeing persecution in England and who turned around and began persecuting the very people they had brought in to help them. The successive immigration policies can be summarized by, "Bring, Use, Abuse, then Dump".  The Catholic Irish were next, later followed by southern Europeans like the Italians and other mediterranean people, and by all the immigrants from the rest of the world who were less white, less Christian and desirable only to the extent that they can "used" while being hated.

The convicted criminal crook, Donald Trump now wants to open a new racist xenophobic chapter in the country's history. During his campaign, he has repeated that he wanted to open his xenophobic racist term by deporting millions of Americans who look "different" and who are "poisoning our blood and our beautiful white skin", beginning with undocumented Chinese immigrants. There are more undocumented Irish people, particularly in the Boston-New York area, who were protected by liberal assholes like Senator Ted Kennedy and who were favored for status adjustment in annual green card lottery drawings by a ratio of 3 Irish to 1 everyone else. Even liberals are just as racists as the neanderthal conservatives.

Using the pretext of a threat posed by China to the US - more economic than military - the first groups targeted for deportation by Trump are undocumented Chinese immigrants of military age. Now with the savage capitalism that is practiced in the US, you'd think right-wing republicans would respect the principle of competition. But they hide their attack on free competition by the Chinese behind a so-called "security" threat. As always, right-wing republicans, operating on behalf of the giant corporations that actually run this country, always need an enemy to justify their violation of their own principles. First it was the British, their own mother, whom they dumped because they didn't want to pay taxes to their own government. Then it was the native Indians who were ethnically cleansed and exterminated during much of the 19th century. Then it was the Immigrants, then the Communists, then the Drug Cartels, then the Terrorists.... And now at the dawn of the Trump rebirth of a Great America, the enemy has been identified, and it is China. And how better to attack China than through the Chinese immigrants in the US.

Asian Americans have long had the fastest-growing undocumented population and the number of Chinese nationals crossing into the U.S. has skyrocketed in recent years. Between fiscal years 2022 and 2024, the number of undocumented Chinese nationals crossing both the northern and southern borders has tripled from 27,000 to 78,000.

The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund reports said that the targeting of the Chinese immigrant community has long been in the making. Several laws across the states restrict Chinese people from buying homes and other real estate. Trump's security program, the China Initiative, was essentially a racial profiling campaign against Asian scholars and academics. Trump has even suggested that China is sending these “military-age” men from China in order to build an army against the United States inside the country.

“They’re coming in from China — 31, 32,000 over the last few months — and they’re all military age and they mostly are men,” Trump said in April during a campaign rally. “And it sounds like to me, are they trying to build a little army in our country? Is that what they’re trying to do?”

Though Trump has promised mass deportations across all undocumented immigrant groups, experts say that the focus on those of “military age” points to a growing definition of China as a threat to the US. “It’s another way of casting our community as an enemy,” an official in a Chinese-American group said of Trump’s immigration platform. “It might not even make any logical sense from a national security perspective, but our communities on the ground here in the U.S. will feel the impact.”

According to the Migration Policy Institute, the Biden administration is on pace to deport as many people as Trump did. So far under Biden, there have been 1.1 million removals since the beginning of fiscal year 2021 through February 2024. During Trump’s first term, there were 1.5 million deportations.

Those Americans from across the non-European, non-white immigrant segment of society who voted for Trump because of his machismo, his adulterous manly forced protection of women and families, and his promises of "cleaning up" America to restore it to greatness are about to discover the disaster looming over all Americans.
