As Israel's problems escalate and the truth of its violent creation become know to the world, Israelis, especially those who see Israel as a Jewish resort where to spend vacations, are packing it up ans returning to their "real" homelands in Europe and the Americas. Many have second passports inherited from their Zionist parents and grandparents who illegally entered Palestine to exterminate the Palestinians and take their land. But those who do not have western passports, like the Iranian, Arab, Ethiopian and others with non-white European ancestry, have been lining up at European embassies in Tel Aviv to apply for passports. More calls have been made to emigrate from Israel because of the internal crisis after liberal Israelis expressed their interest in immigrating.
Israeli society is made up of two highly incompatible communities: The more liberal, non-religious with roots in Western Europe, and the very conservative fundamentalist Jews of East European, Arab, and Persian roots. Each of the two communities have their own Chief Rabbi and discrimination by the ruling Western (Ashkenazi) Jews against the Oriental (Sephardi) Jews is rampant. Sephardi Jews are treated with the same condescension and racism as are Palestinian Israelis. In fact, Sephardi Israelis descend from Arab, Persian and East European Jews who are just as backward and religious as their Muslim Arab brethren. If Israel has not been able to convince the world of its "democracy" and "liberalism", it is because of the oriental Sephardi Jews who are gradually transforming Israel into a Muslim-like backwater of ultra-religious fundamentalism. The policies of the current Israeli government, including its barbarity in the Gaza genocide, escalating settler violence in the West Bank, and its desire to expel all Palestinians out of their historic land, are all dictated by the Sephardi Israelis whom Netanyahu brought into his government.
The original Israel as founded by European liberal, atheist, socialist, colonialist Jews, with its Kibbutzim (collective farm settlements inspired by the Soviet communist Kolkhoz and Sovkhoz collectivities), is no more. Israel is today run by the Jews of Arab and Persian (and some backward eastern european) origins. These people behave exactly like authentic Wahhabi Muslim Arabs: autocrats, ultra-religious, fanatic, torah-literalists, violence-prone, etc. These are the Israelis who cover their women head to toe like in Islamic theocracies, who segregate women in public transportation, who are exempted from military service for religious considerations, etc.
The deepening chasm between Israel's current barbarism and its western backers is a sign of this transformation within Israeli society. As long as Israel followed western models, even if superficially and deceitfully, it garnered support from the West. But as Israel mutates into a Jewish religious backward country that brings corrupt autocrats to power and relies on violence, the West is increasingly uncomfortable with the support it gives Israel.
The rise of the ultra-fundamentalist Jews is causing "liberal" Israelis to re-think their attachment to the original Zionist idea of colonizing Israel. Those with relatively recent Aliyah to Israel have known life in their original European and north American homelands and prefer the liberal environment they can enjoy in western cities an societies. And so, many are beginning to think about leaving Israel for good and abandoning it to the Jewish equivalent of the Taliban or Daesh (ISIS).
For example, Portuguese Immigration Service announced that close to 25,000 Israelis have applied for citizenship during 2023. Immigration offices have become a destination address for thousands of Israelis, and there has been a 10 per cent increase in the number of new inquiries regarding Portuguese, German and Polish nationalities since the formation of the current government.
It's a vicious circle: As more "liberal" western Jews abandon Israel, the relative tilt in favor of the Sephardi "radicals" becomes pronounced, the country becomes more backward and violent, and more "liberal" Jews leave, and so on.
On media outlets and social media networks, there is a lot of material talking about Israelis’ immigration and new passports’ requests. A Facebook group called “Leaving the Country – Together” has been formed recently and announced that they have decided to organize groups to leave Israel in light of the changes witnessed.
Following the Israeli elections in November 2022, there has been a significant increase in the number of applications submitted for citizenship of European Union countries. A European citizenship would give its holders the opportunity to live, work and study throughout the EU. In recent months, there has been a 10 per cent increase in new Israeli applications for German citizenship, Portuguese citizenship and French citizenship (according to the French embassy in Tel Aviv). The European Union office in Tel Aviv also acknowledged an increase in the number of new people applying for nationalities of EU countries, while the United States Embassy - dumb and censor-prone as usual - has refused to answer a question on the subject. Travel and immigration offices are deliberately tempting Israelis who wish to obtain a foreign passport in exchange for investment.
Obtaining European passports in the 28 countries of the EU enables their holders to live in all of Europe,
study there for free, and pass this privilege on to their children,
considering this to be a form of security. Recent indicators show an increase in the number of Israelis wishing to
obtain European passports, and their numbers have reached unprecedented
levels.
Israelis are afraid of what is happening in their country. They are rushing to obtain foreign passports because Israel is no longer a suitable place to live. Giora Shalge, former president of the Rafael Defense Systems affiliated with the Israeli Ministry of Security, revealed that he and his grandchildren are no longer enthusiastic about staying in Israel. Up until recently, immigration from Israel was considered an act of treason, but this has changed now, and the result is that obtaining a second passport at this stage is considered by most Israelis a kind of insurance for the coming days.
In parallel, a Jewish movement called “Leaving the Country – Together” seeks to recruit 10,000 Israelis to leave Israel, against the backdrop of Netanyahu's autocratic legal coup against the judiciary. Mordechai Kahane is an an Israeli-American trying to help the Israelis leave for America. The movement believes that Zionism is dead and that the time has come to provide an alternative, in case the situation in Israel continues to deteriorate as the current government’s actions (judicial coup, Gaza, West Bank, settlements, etc.) may destroy Israel.
The movement calls for moving to a farm in New Jersey where secular Israelis who run small technology companies hope to immigrate and move their offices to the US. They often cite a divided country and real fears of civil war between seculars and fundamentalists. Many Jews are increasingly convinced that they have no future in Israel and that the idea of a Jewish colony in Palestine is long dead.
While Israel has always actively tried to bring in thousands of Jews from around the world, often with bribes, enticements and threats, immigration data show a sharp jump in numbers of Israelis leaving, in what can be called “reverse migration”. I like to call it "Reverse Zionism". The total number of Israelis who immigrated to other countries and currently reside abroad reached 756,000 at the end of 2020. The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics said that about 600,000 Israelis live outside the country, and this estimate does not include the number of those born abroad.
Israel's future is bleak. It will never be accepted in the region, regardless of peace treaties and normalizations with surrounding countries. The violent birth of the country that destituted an entire people and dispossessed it of its land, and the continued Israeli warfare aiming at eliminating any trace of Palestinianhood, is unsustainable. If you cannot make friends in the region and continue to think that the Palestinians and Arabs of today are just like the Arabs of the 1920s and 1930s (easy preys to western colonialism), then you have to resort to constant violence as your base mode of operation. The more violent you become to survive, the more enemies you make it, and you embark on an endless vicious cycle that can only end with your own demise.
The nuclear "Samson" option? Fine. There currently are 500 million Arabs and 2 billion Muslims in the world. Assuming a worst case scenario where these Arabs and Muslims decide to get rid of Israel, and a cornered Israel resorts to its nuclear arsenal to defend itself, the 2.5 billion Arab-Muslims can afford to lose tens of millions, if not more, of their own citizens, but Israel would have destroyed itself entirely and for good. Brandishing the "Samson" option to scare its enemies and defend itself is suicide, and suicide is the most stupid and cowardly form of defense. If Israel wants to survive, it will have to repent, atone for its crimes, apologize to the Palestinian people, give them back their lands and make peace with them in good faith. That is how South Africa survived its apartheid regime.
