Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic through the Strait, according to: https://hormuzstraitmonitor.com/
is 2 ships transiting over past 24 hours, down from 68 pre-war, i.e. 3.3% of normal traffic.
298 ships are waiting to cross but are afraid to do so.
War risk insurance for these vessels has multiplied by 30-fold and is labeled "Extreme".
Yet, the idiot in the white house blathers that everything is great and that we, the US, are in full control of the Strait.
This is beyond mere lying. This is full-blown dementia, backed by the Roy-Cohn teachings to the dumb asshole in the White House, and backed by the generic marketing typical of the American mindset that insists that perception is more important than substance.
Americans are taught that in order to be happy all you have to do is smile, even if it's a fake smile. Normal people smile AFTER they meet happiness. Abnormal Americans are taught to smile IN ORDER TO BE happy. This is the proverbial "putting the cart before the horse."

Iran's Supreme National Security Council stated that the Strait of Hormuz will not open until the U.S. "corrects its behavior," as oil prices hit $90 a barrel for the first time in two weeks.See more
President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday evening that the U.S. "totally" controls the Strait of Hormuz, adding, "Things are going great for our country."
The president's comments happened during an appearance before reporters at Joint Base Andrews, just after he attended the 2026 Patriot Games in Geneva, Ohio, a youth athletics competition created by his administration to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary.
"The country is doing well," Trump said. "The stock market's fantastic — record. We have 79 records so far in a short period of time. More people are working right now in the United States than ever before, and prices are dropping fast. Iran is going fine. It's going just absolutely fine. We totally control the Strait of Hormuz. We have control over it. Nobody else. Only us. Our navy is unbelievable, and things are going great for our country."
Over the weekend, however, CBS News reported that Iran's Supreme National Security Council said the Strait of Hormuz will not open until the United States "corrects its behavior." Not to mention, per The New York Times, oil prices hit $90 a barrel for the first time in two weeks on Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday, Trump added to reporters, "I don't trust Iran. Are you saying I trust Iran? I'm the last person to trust Iran. They've lied to me constantly… We own [the Strait of Hormuz], and at some point, maybe they'll do something, and then they get blown away."
Earlier Tuesday, U.S. Central Command said American forces disabled a Panama-flagged cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman. According to an X post from CENTCOM, a Navy MH-60 helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles into the ship's engine room after its civilian crew "ignored repeated warnings," adding, "U.S. forces operating in the Middle East are highly vigilant, lethal, and ready."
