According to an ARTE television documentary seen on July 5, 2023, Amnesty International back in 1990 diffused the lies and fake news that the Bush Sr. White House and the Citizens for a Free Kuwait organization (CFK) were propagating to justify a US intervention in Kuwait. The need to liberate Kuwait from the Iraqi occupation was in itself a sufficient reason to intervene, but the history of American administrations, catering to the lowest and dumbest of the American people, is replete with a pathological propensity to lie and make up enemies and reasons to go to war.
The reason I bring this issue up is that around 1988-1990, just prior to the 1991 US intervention in Kuwait to drive the Iraqi army out, the Bush Sr. administration had been licking the raspy behind of the vulgar Baathist dictator of Syria, Hafez Assad, to get him to join the coalition against Saddam Hussein, the other vulgar Baathist dictator in Iraq. At the time, Lebanon had been under Syrian occupation since 1975 and was suffering for 15 long years much worse atrocities and human rights violations than Kuwait did for the meager 5 months it was occupied by Iraq.
The stated reasons for Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait were the exact same that Hafez Assad pretexted to occupy Lebanon: Kuwait was part of Iraq and needed to be reunited with it, and Lebanon was part of Syria and needed to be reunited with it. But instead of fleeing like rabbits as the decadent and filthy rich Kuwaitis did, the Lebanese had been courageously fighting off the Syrians and their dozens of terrorist Islamist and Communist organizations.
By 1988, the Lebanese Parliament could not meet and elect a president because the US and Syria wanted to impose a Syrian puppet president, Mr. Mikhail Daher. Parliament was under immense pressure, and Lebanon's Christians, who were spearheading the fight against the Syrian occupation, wanted the democratic process to take its course and elect a free and independent president who could oppose the Syrians. But the unethical Americans wanted to please Assad of Syria to get him to join the anti-Saddam coalition, so they allied themsleves with the Syrian barbarians against their natural allies, Lebanon's Christians. Imagine, those very Syrians who enabled Hezbollah to blow up and murder 243 US Marines in Beirut in October 1983 only five years earlier, and whose henchmen had kidnapped, and were holding, dozens of western hostages in Beirut itself.
Instead of fighting the Syrian-Iranian-Hezbollah axis to prevent it from gathering more power, the Americans buckled like sissies under the terrorist threats and stabbed their friends in the back. The US envoy to Beirut, one Syrian-lover jackass by the name of Richard Murphy, essentially gave the Lebanese an ultimatum: You either vote for the Syrian puppet Daher, or you'll get chaos. The Lebanese refused to vote for Daher, and chaos they got. For two long years, 1988 through 1990, the Syrians committed atrocities and continuously shelled (like Putin in Ukraine today) the Christian enclave until it all climaxed with the Syrian airforce bombing the seat of the Lebanese government and driving the last free Lebanese government into exile in October 1990, only three months before the US invasion of Kuwait - Operation Desert Storm - in January 1991. The filthy poodles of the US, the Israelis, joined in the macabre spectacle by temporarily (24 hours) suspending a red line they had in place prohibiting the Syrian airforce from flying over Lebanese airpsace, which allowed the Syrian airforce for the first and only time ever to fly over Lebanon and bomb the Lebanese government seat in Baabda.
The imbecile Ronald Reagan too had done the same thing in 1983 when, in the aftermath of the terrorist killing of the 243 US Marines near Beirut Airport by the first ever suicide truck-bombing on record, Reagan packed up the remaining marines and fled like a coward, abandoning Lebanon to Syria and Iran and their terrorist militias. Had the West confronted the Syrian-Iranian inslaught on the 1970s and 1980s, the world and the Middle East would probably be in a much better place today.
The reason the US behaved the way they did in Kuwait was because Kuwait had oil. But Lebanon and its beleaguered Christian community did not have oil, so these much promoted "American values" did not apply in their case. Lebanon was disposable. It had no mercantile value.
Why bring up Amnesty International in this context? Amnesty knew that the Bush Sr. administration was lying about the alleged Iraqi army killing of 350 premature babies in Kuwaiti hospitals. The US administration was propagating this lie all over the media in the US, including bringing fake doctors and nurses - affiliated with the Citizens for a Free Kuwait organization (CFK) - to testify before Congress about the purported killing and burying of Kuwaiti babies to justify its impending invasion of Kuwait. Liberating Kuwait from the Iraqi occupation was not a sufficient reason to justify the invasion of Kuwait to a dumb American public who apparently could not be convinced of that necessity. Therefore, the administration had to make up Hollywoodian sentimental idiotic lies that the American people have been conditioned to believe, like the baby killing story. That is how Americans are: They never vote with their brains, and that is why they keep bringing dumb morons to the White House (Reagan, Bush Sr., Bush Jr. Trump, etc.)
Amnesty International backed the American lie and stated repeatedly that it had testimonies on the ground in Kuwait that corroborated the baby killing story. Now Kuwait in 1991 had a population of 1,339,500 people, so to claim that such a small country had 350 premature babies in its hospital incubators was a flagrant stupid lie. But Bush Sr. kept repeating the lie over and over to convince his ignorant people that he needed to go to war. And Amnesty International, the English virgin Joan of Arc heroine of human rights turned out to be a whore who sold its principles, went to bed with the warmongering idiot from Texas, and colluded with the US government to justify the invasion of Kuwait. Amnesty in fact later admitted that it was all one big lie.
The lesson: Never trust organizations like Amnesty International that pretend to hold their standards at some other scale than any moral or ethical standard, just like governments. When Amnesty claims to hold governments to these standards, be assured that in some other place, Amnesty is trampling those standards for more pedestrian and mercantile reasons. It too can make backroom deals, and lie to its public depending on the convenience and the circumstance, as is the case right now with the case of Lebanon whose 4-million population is reeling under the weight of 2.5 million Syrian so-called refugees whose presence in Lebanon is a tool in the hands of the Baathist butcher in Damascus to continue undermining and destabilizing Lebanon.
I used to be a member of Amnesty for its work on defending the rights of jailed dissidents and political prisoners. But things have changed. Amnesty is no longer credible. Nowadays, Amnesty International sounds more like a racist european orientalist from the 19th century whose "voyages" in the mysterious Orient aimed at furthering the interests of the British Empire and its colonial atrocities and crimes. In Lebanon, Amnesty wants 2.5 million Syrian refugees to settle permanently in Lebanon on top of the existing 4 million population. Just like that. No thought whatsoever is given to the repercussions and the consequences of such a monumental crime. I guess a forerunner of what will happen in Lebanon over the next 5 years - if the Syrian refugees do not leave - is on display today in Tunisia. Is this what Amnesty and its sister prostitute NGOs want? A war between the Lebanese people and the Syrian refugees, similar to the 1975 war that the Lebanese fought against the Palestinian refugees? More civil wars, more massacres, more ethnic cleansings, and many more millions embarking on rickety boats en route to Europe? That will surely provide the racist bureaucrats of Amnesty job security for decades to come. They will continue to grow their retirement pensions from behind the comfort of their London bureaus while convincing themselves that they have saved humanity from its own filth. Victorian whores whose racist colonial British government has bought up countries like Rwanda to take all the brown and black refugees arriving in Britain. Perfidious Albion.
