Epstein Files Reveal Elitist 'Eyes Wide Shut' Cabal".  

There may be many reasons why Trump has been fighting off the release of the Epstein Files - but now has gone TACO calling for their release. He has probably calculated that the risks of withholding the files from public view are higher than any personal involvement in sex with underage girls. 

- He may personally be found to have had sex with underage girls. But he can argue this was long time ago. For someone who got away with leading a seditious attack against the constitution, cheating in elections, and paying off prostitutes, he is calculating that he can easily weasel his way out of having had sex with underage girls a couple of decades ago. For someone his age and at the end of his policital career, he doesn't care about anything.

- If the Files show he's not personally liable for having had sex with minors, his reluctance to release them may be because he is trying to save Republican friends, associates, Congressmen and such other prominent figures in finance and academia close to him, whom the Files may eventually show as guilty. He couldn't possibly be trying to protect Democrats.

- I don't know who has custody of the Epstein Files or whether they are protected from tampering. I wouldn't put it beyond Donald Trump to have tried in the meantime (between his reluctance and now his sudden acquiescence to the release) to doctor the files to protect himself.

The 20,000 emails made public (these are different from "The Epstein Files") reveal that there is full-on corruption in the power elites of this country who are pals over such things as sexual deviancy and financial corruption no matter what side of the aisle they are on.  Donald Trump’s name appears more than 1,600 times in the email release, and it has been amply evident that he’s fighting hard to keep the files from the DOJ investigation from being released.

Beyond the person of Trump, Epstein’s email pals range across the landscape of the politics and trip across business, media, tech, academia and society, from former Harvard president and Treasury Secretary Larry Summers (who has now apologized and is being terminated from Harvard) to former White House Democratic counsel Kathy Ruemmler. From MAGA dark knight Steve Bannon to prime ministers across northern Europe and Gulf oil dignitaries. From health guru Deepak Chopra, New York Times journalist Landon Thomas Jr, Harvard literature professor and poet Elisa Lew.

Lew recommended to Epstein to read “Lolita” by Nabokov, “a man whose whole life is stamped forever by his impression of a young girl.” US Virgin Islands Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett while she was soliciting public testimony from former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen. “Great outfit,” he texted her during the 2019 hearing, later advising: “Cohen brought up RONA — keeper of the secrets,” referring to Rhona Graff, Trump’s longtime executive assistant, before pushing her to ask about other “henchmen” in the Trump organization.

In March 2019, Harvard's Larry Summers whined to Epstein that a woman had “blown off” a weekend plan and complained about “being the friend without benefits.” Just a few months after this exchange, Epstein was arrested again, this time by the feds, on charges of sex trafficking. As a reminder, the search of his Manhattan townhouse at the time turned up evidence of sex trafficking and “hundreds—and perhaps thousands — of sexually suggestive photographs of fully — or partially —nude females,” according to the indictment. In a locked safe, there were CDs with handwritten labels: “Young [Name] + [Name],” “Misc nudes 1,” and “Girl pics nude.”

Julie K. Brown, the intrepid journalist from The Miami Herald first exposed Epstein’s crimes and has doggedly pursued the story long after. Asked if she thought the emails validated those who believed in wacky Pizzagate-style theories, she said, “What do you mean by conspiracy? (Ghislaine) Maxwell and Epstein — that was a conspiracy ... And that’s exactly the way they should be looked at. He got away with this. And our criminal justice system is broken. People who have money and power get away with crimes. That’s just a fact.  She added: “It’s what they call the swamp.”

The swamp is specifically what Donald Trump promised to clean up. But he and Epstein are the swamp. We already knew about the likes of Bill Gates, Bill Clinton and ex-Prince Andrew. But these emails suggest a much wider group of elites who accepted Epstein as fine company.


All of this validates what has animated so much of the MAGA movement and the populist anger among progressives: the belief that the system is rigged. That regular people cannot get access to the byways of power or, eventually, money. This is the antithesis of democracy.

What is emerging from all of this is is a convergence between the street-level Left and Right against the elites on both sides. The feeling is that we have all been swindled by the politicians of both sides who keep us divided and angry, while they unite to break the laws and the norms.

What are we going to do about it? I guess that combined with all the corruption by elites around the world - demonstrations against political corruption are almost daily around the world (Bangladesh, Serbia, Mexico, the Philippines, Kenya, Indonesia, Nepal, France, the US....) - a generalized popular movement is likely to emerge with leftist overtones because the Right is often associated with the wealthy ruling elites while the Left is associated with the working class and the poor, who are less likely and have less money to dabble in corruption. But that doesn't mean that elites on either side are immune to corruption.

What are the Files going to tell us? Jeffrey Epstein's brother Mark Epstein says he he has “dirt” on Donald Trump. How can someone as notorious - and as dangerous because of all the dirt he has on the elites - as Epstein commit suicide inside a highly supervised jail cell? I will venture that Epstein was "eliminated" to prevent him from ever revealing all the "Wonderful Secrets" he's had with Trump and others.

DOCTORING (or "SANITIZNG") THE EPSTEIN FILES before they are released.

Mark Epstein believes the FBI is participating in a cover-up of the files relating to his brother, Jeffrey. “I’ve been recently told the reason they’re going to be releasing these things, and the reason for the flip is that they’re sanitizing these files,” Epstein said. “There’s a facility in Winchester, Virginia, where they’re scrubbing the files to take Republican names out of it. That’s what I was told by a pretty good source,” he added.

Which explains why Trump has now suddenly flipped and is eager for the Files to be released. The Files have been cleared of all Republican names, which allows him to trumpet that "only Democrats are involved with Epstein". He said yesterday: “We have nothing to do with Epstein. The Democrats do. All of his friends were Democrats”. “You look at Larry Summers, Bill Clinton. They went to his island all the time, and many others, all Democrats.”

Mark Epstein doubled down on his claims, alleging FBI Director Kash Patel is participating in a cover-up of the way Jeffrey died behind bars. “He was the one who said in his testimony ‘you know a suicide when you see one.’ I had a laugh. How many suicides has that j****** seen?”

Shortly after last week’s release, Republican lawmakers released tens of thousands of emails from Epstein’s estate. House Speaker Mike Johnson said a vote to compel the Department of Justice to release all Epstein-related files could take place this week.

The latest files showed emails between the Epstein brothers, in what some allege to reference President Trump engaging in some sort of sexual activity with former President Bill Clinton.

“The only thing I responded to, because people got crazy with the ‘Bubba’ reference (in the email), and they tried to pin it on Clinton. So I made a public statement that it was not any reference to Bill Clinton. I like Bill Clinton … the email had nothing to do with Clinton, and that’s my last word on that email,” he said.

Epstein suggested his brother had compromising information on the president, but did not specify.

“He didn’t tell me what he knew, but Jeffrey definitely had dirt on Trump,” he alleged. “You could see in the emails, Trump could deny it all he wants, but it’s pretty clear everything Trump says is a lie.”

Lisa Phillips, a survivor of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, also joined “CUOMO” on Monday night and alleged Justice Department officials “already have had all the information they’ve needed to release for years now.” Phillips said she and other victims of Jeffrey Epstein have named his famous clients, but she cannot understand why they have not been released to the public.

“We want to help to put the names out there, but it’s not our responsibility to do so. And I think you know, I think you know why,” Phillips said.

U.S. Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) explained explained why the files in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking case might not be released despite President Donald Trump‘s reversal on the issue on Sunday.

Trump urged House Republicans to vote to release the Epstein files after months of pleading with them not to do so, calling the files a “Democrat hoax.” Coons suggested during a Monday appearance on MSNOW, formerly MSNBC, that Trump is only backing the release of the files because he does not think the Justice Department will release them.

He said that Attorney General Pam Bondi’s investigation into a number of Democrats in connection to the case will be the administration’s excuse for not releasing the files.

“My gut hunch is that Attorney General [Pam] Bondi, having just been ordered on social media by the president, to open an investigation into a series of high-profile Democrats, will promptly say, ‘Oh no, no, there’s an ongoing investigation. We can’t disclose any of this,’ and the President will back that up,” Coons said on “Morning Joe.”

He said that the Senate should be demanding to see the files every day.

“We should be going to the floor every day and doing unanimous consent requests that say we should see these files now. We owe it to the victims,” he said. “This is just a despicable act of betraying the victims of Epstein. It’s long past time that we get transparency around this for the American people.”

The House is slated to vote this week on a bill that would force the Justice Department to release all files related to Epstein and the investigation into his death in federal prison. Trump told House Republicans to vote for the bill this week after previously pressuring them not to support it last week.

“We have nothing to hide, and it’s time to move on from this Democrat Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics in order to deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party,” Trump wrote on social media late Sunday.

The president’s shift is an implicit acknowledgement that supporters of the measure have enough votes to pass in the House, although it has an unclear future in the Senate.

It is a rare example of Trump backtracking because of opposition within the GOP. In his return to office and in his second term as president, Trump has largely consolidated power in the Republican Party.

“I DON’T CARE!” Trump wrote in his social media post. “All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT.”

Why is Trump suddenly interested in waging war on Venezuela? First, he's a filthy coward who promised his MAGA herd he doesn't want to shove the US in foreign wars. So he chooses two pathetically weak countries to harass: Venezuela (supposedly to fight drug trafficking) and Nigeria (supposedly to defend Christians there). Both are obviously pretexts for the silverback moron to beat his chest and pretend he is fighting drugs and defending Christians. 

Why doesn't he confront China (a one-party communist dictatorship that appoints its own subservient Christian bishops), or Saudi Arabia (where Christians are not even allowed to practice, and where practicing Christian rituals (prayers and such) (التنصير) in one's home is illegal (An AI search gave: public practice of Christianity is forbidden in Saudi Arabia, and there are severe restrictions on religious gatherings and expressions of faith. While private worship is technically allowed, it is not legally protected, and violations can lead to arrest or deportation).

Second, he is fast losing ground on the domestic front. As the 2026 elections loom, it is typical for a dumb American voting public to become automatically "bored" with their politicians nearing the end of their term ("sitting ducks", they call them). It's a knee-jerk reaction by "consumers" who get bored with the junk toys they bought last year. Scandals, corruption, nepotism, display of tasteless wealth (ballrooms, lavish dinners...) while people's standard of living keeps sliding, primarily because of Trump's policies (tariffs, currting off all federal social support networks, massive layoffs by both the government and the giant corporations colluding with Trump). 

Therefore Trump needs to distract and amuse his bored American people. What better than a jolt of fake tacky flag-waving "patriotism"? When Bush Jr. invaded Iraq on the basis of the deliberate lies that Saddam Hussein possessed Weapons of Mass Destruction, the American patriotic herd followed him even as they suspected he was lying to them. He waged the war (and never really won it, other than causing the death of millions of Iraqis and some 6,000 US soldiers) and temporarily improved the economy by domestic expenditures on military equipment (and making huge profits for Dick Cheney's Haliburton among many companies in the military-industrial complex), but it soon caught up with him and the economy collapsed during his last year in office. Barack Obama was elected and he fixed the economy and avoided stupid wars overseas. 

And now Trump is doing the same, claiming he is fighting drug trafficking. But drug use is a US problem. The question we should be asking is why do so many Americans consume so much illicit drugs, which drives the manufacture and supply of drugs by the cartels? The US government goes to war against foreign suppliers of drugs, but never against domestic producers while drug use by Americans is never questioned. Never combated. Never punished. In fact, it is increasingly legalized. For decades, fighting the drug trade has never been a serious undertaking and is mostly a pretext to interfere in other countries for political objectives (removing leftwing dictatorships and replacing them with rightwing ones). 

If Trump really cared about the growing drug trade and its nefarious impact on American society, he should be issuing executive orders drastically raising the penalties for drug use by his own American people instead of blaming other countries.

US Republicans thrive on foreign wars. Whereas Democrat presidents have to be dragged into wars (Woodrow Wilson in World War I; Franklin D. Roosevelt in World War II), Republican presidents initiate wars. Not because of necessity, but for marketing (show of force) and profits (drum up the economy with expenditures on the war effort).

Republican presidents often fail in the economic management of the country. As their popularity starts sinking, they resort to wars overseas to distract the American people and shore up their declining popularity. Reagan did it, Bush Sr. did it and Bush Jr did it.

Like his predecessors, Trump’s worsening situation on the domestic front (declining economy, corruption, nepotism, favoritism, sinking popularity, enmeshed in scandals, etc.) is making him turn to foreign wars in the “backyard” of the US, in Latin America. It may also represent a tit for tat message to Vladimir Putin: You are messing with our allies in your European backyard in Ukraine, we can mess with your left-wing allies in our backyard in Latin America. Which is an added incentive for China to mess with its own backyard in Taiwan and everywhere else in southeast Asia.

The US might be concerned with a new leftwing tide similar to the one in the 1960s and 1970s. Wikipedia says that the “Pink Tide” (a turn towards left-wing governments in Latin America) may well be on its way in the aftermath of the crushing economic and social disarray in this 21st century caused by excessive liberalism, right wing policies, continuous rape of the environment, autocrats, right-wing populists, dictatorships (Russia, US, China…), support for genocidal ultra-religious right-wingers (Netanyahu in Palestine, Modi in India, etc.)

In Chile, for example, the presidential elections of this past weekend are between extremists of all brands. On the ballot are eight candidates with at least three frontrunners including José Antonio Kast, an ultraconservative politician whose father was a German Nazi and who has promised to "make Chile great again"; Johannes Kaiser, another German-stock libertarian who is considered even more radical than Kast; and Jeannette Jara, a longtime Communist Party member. None obtained the required percentage of votes, and a runoff is now set between Kast and Jara, with Communist Jara a favorite in the polls. Will the Trump administration orchestrate the killing of Jara (if she wins), like Nixon did with the killing of Salvador Allende in Chile in 1973?

Virtually in every country on earth today there are people, especially young people, demonstrating against right-wing corruption, the dismantling of democratic institutions, the move toward illiberal policies that are destroying the foundations and gains of the past few decades. Particularly among a younger generation (recent Gen Z protests), there is a move toward more economically progressive or socially progressive policies aiming at restoring social and economic justice. Native indigenous people (Latin America, Palestine, etc.) are raising their voices and demanding power-sharing after centuries of European colonialism. They are also trying to fend off giant corporations trying to steal their ancestral lands and exploit them to the detriment of their environment-friendly traditions.

As automation and robotization (artificial intelligence) are beginning to throw people off the payroll ledgers, the younger generation is worried that the change is too fast and that steps they are taking today to ensure themselves a future may be outpaced by rapid change. There is no time to adjust.

With all these tensions and uncertainties, the right-wing establishments (capitalists, religious orders, the military, religious nationalists, racial nationalists…) have been reacting to social progress. Trump is such a symptom. Unfortunately, these dinosaurs know only one thing: The past, as they have no imagination for a different future. Their reaction is often a nostalgic return to the “old days” whose shelf-life never lasts forever. With social change, once a gain is made it is impossible to go back. Rights acquired cannot be surrendered back. Trump’s Make America Great Again is based on the illusion that we can delete all the social progress achieved over the past 100 years and return to the 19th century status quo of abusive enslavement and denial of rights to minorities, immigrants, women, workers, peasants, the middle class, indigenous people….

In Venezuela, Trump is copy-pasting 1970s Nixon: He is staging a coup against Maduro, much like Nixon used the CIA to topple and assassinate the duly and democratically elected Salvador Allende in Chile in 1973. His “crime”? He was a Socialist. Trump has authorized the CIA to conduct covert operations and has dispatched the largest naval deployment of the 21st century along the coast of Venezuela.

Insurance Companies: Most Outstanding Scammers of the United Scams of America

Governments have to step in (THIS IS SOCIALISM) to replace the deadbeat failing insurance companies, these "paragons" of the American free scamming enterprise, that are fleeing the scene of major catastrophes and disasters. What is the point then if those you pay them for years suddenly dump you when you need them because their business model sucks big time?  

As his Obama(care) ulcer keeps manging him from within, Donald Dumb is suggesting to pay US citizens money directly (instead of shoring up the failing insurance industry) so they can buy their own health insurance. But the dumb asshole thinks his MAGA morons (and the US public in general) will not notice that people will use that money to buy their health insurance from..... whom? can you guess?.... well, those same damn failing insurance companies.

The greatest president the US has seen in decades, President Barack Obama, tried to establish government-sponsored health insurance ALONGSIDE private insurance companies, in a healthy capitalist competitive setup in which US citizens have the freedom to choose. 

But the MAGA-Republican political agents and lobbyists of private corporations know they would lose in that competition: Government is so much more reliable and honest than any private company whose focus is not on service but on profit. So they never want government involved, which leaves the American people in the hands of a Mafia of crooks, scammers, and corrupt greedy corporations. 

In their marketing campaigns, the private Mafia crooks and scammers have convinced a foolish and hapless American people to equate being scammed by crooks and cheaters with "patriotism" and the infamous bullshit illusion of a paradisiac "American way of life". Same thing when the American people are brainwashed to believe that "consuming" - i.e. buy any and all the junk that can ever possibly be made - is an act of patriotism because it drives the economy. But your act of patriotic "consuming" profits only the crooks and the scammers, and leaves you, the American people (no longer referred to as "citizens" but as "consumers") in debt, without savings, and hording massive amounts of junk you never really need. Why not save the money you stupidly spend on useless holiday gifts to buy health insurance instead of nagging to the scammers you vote for that you can't make ends meet?

Insurers are closing their doors to millions of customers exposed to rapidly growing catastrophes: 'A huge challenge ahead of them'

A growing number of extreme weather events and natural disasters have pushed insurance markets to the brink, potentially impacting millions of homeowners across the United States.

What's happening?

Politico Pro reported on an insurance crisis that has impacted several states, most notably California.

An increased risk of wildfires and other severe weather events has caused some private insurance companies to raise their rates to levels that are unsustainable for many people, or to leave states completely. In 2023, State Farm announced it would no longer offer new homeowner's insurance policies in California because of the increased risk of fire and other disasters.

To counter this, California created a state-chartered insurance plan called the FAIR Plan, which uses policy premiums to pay out claims when needed.

The number of policies under the FAIR Plan, however, has nearly doubled, and its total liability is nearly $700 billion, which has many experts questioning if the plan will soon run out of money, forcing insurance companies and policyholders to pay out claims.

For example, January's deadly Southern California wildfires created so many insurance claims that the state assessed insurers and policyholders $1 billion.

Rob Moore, director of climate adaptation with the Natural Resources Defense Council, told Politico Pro that policymakers "have a huge challenge ahead of them. And it's a climate resilience and climate risk challenge they're facing."

Why is this concerning?

That risk has only grown because of human-caused pollution.

As we burn dirty fuels, we release massive amounts of heat-trapping pollution into the atmosphere. That pollution has caused global temperatures to increase to record-breaking levels, with the last decade seeing the 10 warmest years in recorded history.

Those temperature increases cause more frequent and severe weather events, such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. The connection is so strong that one expert likened increasing global temperatures to "steroids for weather."

And this increase in extreme weather has caused many insurance companies to rethink their policies in certain locations.

What's being done to fix this?

California isn't alone in this. Several other states, including Florida, Louisiana, and Texas, have also created state-run insurance plans to help stabilize markets and provide necessary relief to their residents.

Florida, in particular, could provide a glimpse into the future of insurance. Its state-chartered plan had 1.4 million policies as recently as 2023, but legislative changes have led more homeowners to obtain private insurance, and reduced the number of state-chartered policies to 570,000.

"States have to balance how much do we want risk to be reflected in prices, versus how much do we want to really take care of people as they go through this tough financial transition," University of Colorado law professor Michael Pappas told Politico Pro. "States are still figuring out how to walk that line."

A former ally is torching President Donald Trump for what he sees as a wholesale abandonment of the populist promises that helped put him in the White House.

David Lapan, who left his post as senior adviser to the under secretary for benefits at the Department of Veterans Affairs, says the president’s tough-talk campaign pitch to veterans has curdled into something far more self-centered.

“The messaging before was a means to an end to get elected, but once elected, that can all fall by the wayside,” he said. And the people who believed him, Lapan argues, are the ones getting squeezed.

Many of the same veterans who cheered Trump’s stump speeches “relied on the food stamps he had fought against funding now that he was back in office,” he noted.

“Now that he’s in office, the mask comes off and it’s all about taking care of himself and fellow billionaires and millionaires,” said Lapan, a retired Marine Corps colonel and longtime national-security spokesman. “He’s an elitist.”

Lapan’s broadside lands as Trump faces a mutiny inside his MAGA base. The Georgia firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene has become the face of that dissent, blasting Trump for insisting groceries are “at the lowest prices they have ever been”—a claim voters flatly reject from the shopping aisles.

On The Sean Spicer Show, Greene warned the White House that the line is backfiring. “Gaslighting the people and trying to tell them that prices have come down is not helping,” she said.

She added that Americans “know what they’re paying at the grocery store” and need leaders who will “show that we are in the trenches with them,” not “deny what’s happening.”

The angst runs deeper than food prices. Trump has angered loyalists by championing more visas for skilled foreign workers, approving a $20 billion bailout for Argentina, and launching military operations in the Middle East and the Caribbean.

And the Epstein drag continues to dog him. Trump’s on-again, off-again ties to Jeffrey Epstein remain a political landmine, providing fresh ammunition to Republicans willing to say so out loud.

“When they’re protecting pedophiles, when they are blowing our budget, when they are starting their wars overseas, I’m sorry, I can’t go along with that,” Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky said on CNN. “Even the most ardent Trump supporters understand.”

Trump, for his part, dismisses the piling-on as purely political, waving it away on Truth Social as “THE JEFFREY EPSTEIN HOAX.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The exchange took place nearly three weeks after Trump's first inauguration on Jan. 20, 2017.

Epstein told Summers in the alleged email, "Recall ive told you,, -- i have met some very bad people ,, none as bad as trump. not one decent cell in his body.. so yes- dangerous," according to ABC News.

When reached for comment by PEOPLE, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said, “These emails prove literally nothing. Liberal outlets are desperately trying to use this Democrat distraction to talk about anything other than Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight," referring to the recent government shutdown battle ending before Democrats were able to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits.

Jackson added, "We won’t be distracted, and the entire Administration will continue fulfilling the promises the President was elected on, including Making America Affordable Again.”

Trump's relationship with Epstein — who mentioned the president multiple times in messages over the years — has fallen under renewed scrutiny since the release of the emails. Among the collection of documents, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee shared three redacted email correspondences on Wednesday: one that Epstein, a convicted sex offender, wrote to his personal confidante Ghislaine Maxwell, and two he wrote to Trump biographer Michael Wolff.

The first email exchange, dated April 2, 2011, was between Epstein, who was once friends with Trump, and Maxwell.

"I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump," Epstein wrote. "[Redacted victim's name] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned."

Maxwell replied, "I have been thinking about that..."

In an alleged exchange with Wolff dated Dec. 16, 2015, the journalist and author appeared to warn Epstein that CNN would ask Trump a question about their relationship during an upcoming presidential debate.

"If we were able to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?" Epstein asked.

Wolff appeared to have responded: "I think you should let him hang himself. If he says he hasn't been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency. You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt."

"Of course, it is possible that, when asked, he'll say Jeffrey is a great guy and has gotten a raw deal and is a victim of political correctness, which is to be outlawed in a Trump regime," he said.

Citing a transcript of the debate, The New York Times reported that Trump was not ultimately asked about Epstein.

A third email to Wolff was dated Jan. 31, 2019. Epstein wrote, "[Redacted victim's name] mara lago," followed by another redacted segment. "Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. . of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop."

When previously reached by PEOPLE for comment on the emails between Epstein, Maxwell and Wolff, the White House shared a statement from press secretary Karoline Leavitt that accused House Democrats of pushing a "hoax" to distract from Trump's "historic accomplishments."

“The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump," Leavitt said. "The ‘unnamed victim’ referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and 'couldn’t have been friendlier' to her in their limited interactions.

"The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre," she added.

The emails have been shared amid ongoing pressure to release the Epstein files, a cache of documents that are related to Epstein's criminal cases.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 and charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors. He pleaded not guilty but died by suicide while inside his jail cell in New York City's Metropolitan Correctional Center in August 2019.

NEW YORK (AP) — When he first came to the United States after escaping civil war in Sierra Leone and spending almost a decade in a refugee camp, Dauda Sesay had no idea he could become a citizen. But he was told that if he followed the rules and stayed out of trouble, after some years he could apply. As a U.S. citizen, he would have protection.

It’s what made him decide to apply: the premise — and the promise — that when he became a naturalized American citizen, it would create a bond between him and his new home. He would have rights as well as responsibilities, like voting, that, as he was making a commitment to the country, the country was making one to him.

“When I raised my hand and took the oath of allegiance, I did believe that moment the promise that I belonged,” said Sesay, 44, who first arrived in Louisiana more than 15 years ago and now works as an advocate for refugees and their integration into American society.

But in recent months, as President Donald Trump reshapes immigration and the country's relationship with immigrants, that belief has been shaken for Sesay and other naturalized citizens. There's now fear that the push to drastically increase deportations and shift who can claim America as home, through things like trying to end birthright citizenship, is having a ripple effect.

What they thought was the bedrock protection of naturalization now feels more like quicksand.

What happens if they leave?

Some are worried that if they leave the country, they will have difficulties when trying to return, fearful because of accounts of naturalized citizens being questioned or detained by U.S. border agents. They wonder: Do they need to lock down their phones to protect their privacy? Others are hesitant about moving around within the country, after stories like that of a U.S. citizen accused of being here illegally and detained even after his mother produced his birth certificate.

Sesay said he doesn't travel domestically anymore without his passport, despite having a REAL ID with its federally mandated, stringent identity requirements.

Immigration enforcement roundups, often conducted by masked, unidentifiable federal agents in places including Chicago and New York City, have at times included American citizens in their dragnets. One U.S. citizen who says he was detained by immigration agents twice has filed a federal lawsuit.

Adding to the worries, the Justice Department issued a memo this summer saying it would ramp up efforts to denaturalize immigrants who’ve committed crimes or are deemed to present a national security risk. At one point during the summer, Trump threatened the citizenship of Zohran Mamdani, the 34-year-old democratic socialist mayor-elect of New York City, who naturalized as a young adult.

The atmosphere makes some worried to speak about it publicly, for fear of drawing negative attention to themselves. Requests for comment through several community organizations and other connections found no takers willing to go on the record other than Sesay.

In New Mexico, state Sen. Cindy Nava says she's familiar with the fear, having grown up undocumented before getting DACA — Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the Obama-era program that protected people brought to the U.S. as children from being deported — and gaining citizenship through her marriage. But she hadn't expected to see so much fear among naturalized citizens.

“I had never seen those folks be afraid ... now the folks that I know that were not afraid before, now they are uncertain of what their status holds in terms of a safety net for them," Nava said.

What citizenship has meant, and who was included, has expanded and contracted over the course of American history, said Stephen Kantrowitz, professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He said while the word “citizen” is in the original Constitution, it is not defined.

“When the Constitution is written, nobody knows what citizenship means,” he said. “It’s a term of art, it comes out of the French revolutionary tradition. It sort of suggests an equality of the members of a political community, and it has some implications for the right to be a member of that political community. But it is ... so undefined.”

American immigration and its obstacles

The first naturalization law passed in 1790 by the new country’s Congress said citizenship was for any “free white person” of good character. Those of African descent or nativity were added as a specific category to federal immigration law after the ravages of the Civil War in the 19th century, which was also when the 14th Amendment was added to the Constitution to establish birthright citizenship.

In the last years of the 19th century and into the 20th century, laws were put on the books limiting immigration and, by extension, naturalization. The Immigration Act of 1924 effectively barred people from Asia because they were ineligible for naturalization, being neither white nor Black. That didn't change until 1952, when an immigration law removed racial restrictions on who could be naturalized. The 1965 Immigration and Naturalization Act replaced the previous immigration system with one that portioned out visas equally among nations.

American history also includes times when those who had citizenship had it taken away, like after the 1923 Supreme Court ruling in U.S. vs. Bhagat Singh Thind. That ruling said that Indians couldn't be naturalized because they did not qualify as white and led to several dozen denaturalizations. At other times, it was ignored, as in World War II, when Japanese Americans were forced into internment camps.

“Political power will sometimes simply decide that a group of people, or a person or a family isn’t entitled to citizenship,” Kantrowitz said.

In this moment, Sesay says, it feels like betrayal.

“The United States of America — that’s what I took that oath of allegiance, that’s what I make commitment to,” Sesay said. “Now, inside my home country, and I’m seeing a shift. ... Honestly, that is not the America I believe in when I put my hand over my heart.”

Moderate Republicans Begin Peeling off Trump as 2026 Elections Loom

Trump is old and sick (in mind and body). Economy not so good. Groceries prices rising. His self-aggrandizement (ballrooms, lavish dinners, etc.) is expensive and annoying. Epstein ghost haunting him notwithstanding his desperation to cover it up. His MAGA followers may have, so far, forgiven his past criminality but he has not delivered on many promises he made and instead he has switched to policies "they didn't vote for", including his bitterness, cruelty and anger and his persecuting anyone and everyone, even his most ardent supporters. His inciting wars in Latin America under fake pretexts, and his incapacity at making peace in Ukraine (in 24 hours he had promised) and in the Levant where his family's billion dollar deals reek of corruption and oily Arab ass licking but without a solution to the Palestine heartache.

All of this is beginning to turn away the few moderate normal people (independents, Hispanics and Latinos, African Americans, Arab Americans....) who were fooled and voted for him and carried him over to victory. Back then, they heard the words and the fake promises, it is only now that they see the criminal madman behind them. 

Newly eligible young voters have seen with their own eyes the duplicity, the lies, the fake patriotism, and the damage he is causing to the republic, except for the desperate Turning-Point-USA racist bigoted dumb toddlers, desperately and incompetently trying to remain relevant with a younger generation drifting away from stupid juvenile ultra-religiosity and into sanity, maturity and sober reflection.

If Trump has managed to alienate the most rabid among his supporters (e.g. Taylor-Greene), imagine what the rest of the MAGA herd must be thinking but dare not say.

Worse yet: Trump made MAGA. Without his insanity and criminality, MAGA wouldn't exist. When a political movement is subsumed under the person of its leader, it dies when the leader dies. As they begin to see the end of the Trump phenomenon, his MAGA herd of morons know they will be left without the shepherd who led them astray into an obsolete wilderness deadend completely out of touch with modern America and the world. When the King is dead, is there anyone out there in the MAGA universe of morons to replace him? Yes, many would want to, but none has the Messiah annointment they have bestowed on Donald Dumb. He is unique in hybridizing stupidity with criminality.

And last but not least, people are truly terrified at the calamities this insufferable demented narcissist  old man can inflict on our country as he contemplates his own demise. If you are wondering why he is having all his scheming meetings in the Situation Room....there's your answer.

As Epstein consumes the White House, Republicans are starting to think twice about absolute loyalty to Trump

Does MAGA have a future that isn’t controlled by Donald Trump?

If this week was any indication, the answer is “yes”. And Trump himself risks the possibility of those voters moving on.

Since practically the first day he took office in 2017, Donald Trump owned the Republican Party. There was little room for dissent against a man who’d won office on the premise that he was the lone Republican who meant what he said and who promised to shake up a political establishment which, in his depictions, was hopelessly corrupt and on top of that: deeply, profoundly inept.

But the times, they are a changin’.

As Capitol Hill prepared to end the longest shutdown in U.S. history this week, the House Oversight Committee was quietly building a bomb. On Wednesday, as Donald Trump eagerly awaited the end of a minor political saga he’d blamed for his party’s crushing defeat in off-year elections, that bomb detonated.

“I know how dirty donald is,” wrote Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted pedophile and sex trafficker of underaged girls, in an email released by the committee. In others: “i want you to realise that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump...[VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him...he has never once been mentioned.”

“[O]f course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine [sic] to stop.”

Membership of the House Oversight Committee includes both Republicans and Democrats. It’s chaired by James Comer, the blustery Republican congressman who led the GOP’s ill-fated efforts to impeach former President Joe Biden.

On Wednesday, the same day Trump and his Republican allies were to celebrate the collapse of Democratic resistance in the Senate over the shutdown, that committee released 20,000 pages of documents obtained from Epstein’s estate. The batch included personal emails sent and received by Epstein in the years before and after his 2008 conviction for soliciting an underage girl as a prostitute.

And the White House treated it like a bomb had hit the building. Trump summoned his advisers to the Situation Room, where his predecessor watched the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden, to discuss how to respond to the fallout.

There’s a short list of Republicans in the House who’ve publicly defied the president by signing on to a Democratic discharge petition to release the full breadth of the Epstein files, following the DOJ and FBI’s announcement that the agencies would not do so: Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace.

Apart from Massie, the remaining three have embraced loyalty to the MAGA brand as their raison d'etre for public service, and have all sought Trump’s endorsement in their various campaigns for office.

But there appears to be a much longer list of Republicans who are willing to tactfully use this issue to shore up their own credibility with MAGA Republicans, possibly at the president’s expense.

Comer and the House Oversight Committee are the clearest examples. But there’s more: Speaker Mike Johnson, who owes his job as GOP leader to the president and his ability to be Trump’s mouthpiece in the lower chamber, says he’s not willing to give the administration any more cover after keeping the House out of session during the shutdown, delaying a vote on the bipartisan Epstein discharge petition for weeks.

In short, the Republican House caucus has largely made up its mind. Most assume that they can’t afford to appear uninterested on this topic, or dismiss it as a Democratic hoax (as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and her boss have both done).

“House Republicans are eager to put the Epstein controversy in the rear-view mirror,” Politico reported this week.

At a press conference on Wednesday, the speaker praised Comer’s efforts at Oversight to pursue releases of documents from the investigation, while giving no mention to the White Houes and DOJ’s efforts to keep further information from coming out.

“That’s been a treasure trove,” Johnson said of the documents from Epstein’s estate — a batch which included the first direct implication, from Epstein, that Trump had knowledge of his illicit affairs.

“So that’s going to continue,” the Speaker said of his caucus’s efforts to push for more releases. “The subpoenas are being ... complied with, and more are on the way.”

Meanwhile, the rebel GOP representatives signed on to the discharge petition tread a fine line: avoiding outright disloyalty to Trump, but making it clear at the same time that the president’s pressure on the House GOP was irrelevant.

“It's unfortunate that not more Republicans were actually on the initial discharge. But I know in talking to many of them, that many of them are going to vote yes [to release the files],” one of those Republicans, Rep. Nancy Mace, told The Independent.

Reports indicate that Trump reached out to both Mace and Boebert before the vote this week. He failed to sway either one, though Mace insisted that the president wasn’t reaching out to them to intimidate them.

“No one has threatened me,” she told The Independent. “The president hasn't threatened me, and the President didn't ask me get off the discharge petition.”

So where does that leave Trump?

Largely speaking, the Epstein issue is unique in its salience with such a massive swath of the American public — that’s where these lawmakers are finding the strength to buck the party.

But the story clearly threatens to sap any remaining political capital Trump has on the Hill, at least until the 2026 midterms. Will further releases detract from that strength even further?

Either way, this is happening at the worst possible time for Trump: before the end of the first year of his four-year term, right as Republican members of Congress are looking at their potential re-election fights, and gauging how to protect their seats after a brutal Democratic sweep of 2025’s off-year statewide elections in Virginia, New Jersey, Georgia, Pennsylvania and New York.

At the same time, the White House is battling perceptions from voters who accuse them of not making inflation and cost-of-living expenses a higher priority while the president galavants around the world in a bid to obtain a Nobel Peace Prize.

If he’s unlucky, this could be the defining issue of his second term — a term which isn’t even one-quarter completed.

Donald Hump continues to descend into dementia. During a public address on Thursday, he could not even form a single coherent sentence. While signing one of his disgusting Executive Orders, supposedly “Fostering the Future for American Children and Families”, and displaying his dumb bimbo wife Melania by his side, he delivered a tossed word salad typical of an illiterate idiot who is getting senile, with ingredients like religion, population dynamics, and foster care, and revealed he did not know the difference between "adopt" and "adapt".

“Christians and more, think of this, more than twice as likely foster care, they’ll adopt the general population ... They adopt to it so easily. When they get out, they adopt to it like it’s become second nature. It’s amazing.”

Another user, @Geoff_McGivern, wondered how can Donald Dumb be so incoherent even when reading from a prepared text!  “Trump got ‘adapt’ confused with ‘adopt’ three times today and failed to move one of his arms while attempting to clap,” X user @PalmerReport wrote. “He’s getting worse by the day.”

This pattern of rambling incoherent language has many experts diagnosing a slide into old age dementia, not unlike Joe Biden's last year in office when Donald Dumb himself kept ridiculing the former president for his aging. Now the shoe is on the other foot and Donald Dumb’s second term speeches have been marked by confusing rants about magnets and falling asleep during press conferences. His "Royal MAGAsty" is surrounded by jesters, servants and other court debutantes and courtisans who keep lying and hiding their alarm by affirming that His Royal Imbecility's health and mental acuity are not a concern.

Royals like Donald Dumb often succumb to madness because they get drunk from having power which goes to their heads. With Donald Dumb, his insanity is genetic, constitutive, and chronic and did not need power to explode in public. Doubled with an asinine temperament - provocative for no reason, but over a bedrock of ignorance - his insanity has reached its apex at the present time. He is the textbook example of the dumb and ugly American.

 

A mythomaniac to the bone - he probably lies to himself - Donald Dumb's megalomania is increasingly evident: Before achieving anything of substance - his Trump "Towers" are a symptom - he demands that be recognized for his achievements. He kept harping - and literally begging - on deserving the Nobel Peace Prize.

 

Sane monarchs and leaders would wait for history to assess their greatness or lack thereof. With the dumb idiot in the Outhouse, he comes in with a pre-formed illusion that he is great, and that he should be recognized for it. The cart before the horse. And even though his actions do not match his illusions of grandeur, he insists on beseeching the world to recognize some greatness in him. He must not have been loved as a child, and he is now demanding that the world give him the love that his parents failed to give him. Which is why he is multiplying acts to make sure he is recognized long after he's gone: Ballrooms, walls, arc de Trump... all of which do not reflect any concrete achievements. 

The demented old geezer has three more years to wreak more havoc in the country and elsewhere by constantly trying to create difficult situations, which he then claims to fix. The arsonist fireman syndrome, which goes like this: There is no problem to begin with, so Donald Dumb creates a problem, rants and nags about it, then claims to fix it. 

 

This ongoing show from the cuckoo's nest will undoubtedly continue until such time as the mad man is out of office or is hustled to an asylum somewhere and out of our lives.

Progressives Continue to Make Progress in US Races

Trump's Radical Right extremism is causing a shift among voters toward progressive candidates. Zohran Mamdani is only one of those who represent this trend, especially among the younger generation of educated Americans who are sensitized by now to the environment, social justice, solidarity, investing in science and technology.... and who reject the vacuous patriotic dumbing sentimentalism promoted by MAGA and its desperate emanations like the Turning Point USA club of primitive-minded young conservatives.

Progressive Katie Wilson ousts Democratic incumbent in Seattle mayor’s race

Community organizer Katie Wilson defeated Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell (D) in the city’s mayoral race, according to Decision Desk HQ, in a major win for progressives.

“We’re thrilled with the latest drop, which continues to trend in our direction. Ahead by almost 2,000 votes, we now believe that we’re in an insurmountable position,” Wilson’s campaign wrote in a statement on Facebook on Wednesday.

“We’re so grateful to all the volunteers who have powered this grassroots campaign to victory,” the campaign continued. “We look forward to hearing the mayor’s address to the city tomorrow. #thisisYOURcity.”

Harrell has not yet conceded the race. Washington mandates an automatic recount only when the margin of votes is fewer than 2,000 and less than half of a percentage of the “total number of votes cast for both candidates,” though the Seattle mayor could still request and pay for one himself.

Like New York City’s mayoral contest, Seattle’s election was seen as a battle between progressives and establishment Democrats. The race came down to the wire, with vote-counting stretching out over a week as Wilson pulled narrowly ahead of Harrell.

Wilson defeated Harrell in a crowded primary earlier this year. However, Harrell dominated in fundraising, and the progressive was still seen as an underdog.

Wilson’s election marks the second win progressives notched after last Tuesday’s elections. New Yorkers elected democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor, another boost for progressives.

NASA Insiders Say They’re Now Under “Constant Attack” by Trump’s White House

For decades, NASA’s Goddard Space Center has been one of the preeminent institutions specializing in growing humanity’s understanding of space. Sadly, those days might be far behind it, as the Trump administration grows increasingly belligerent in its attempts to force draconian cuts to NASA’s operating budget — a campaign that’s already included building closures, mass layoffs, and junking specialized scientific equipment.

Now, a new NPR investigation shows that for NASA employees still going about their daily work, the White House’s daily efforts are going much farther, devolving into what staffers describe as a “campaign of destruction” from the “highest levels.”

Casey McGrath, a NASA astrophysicist, said that after the Trump administration cut Goddard center staff by nearly half, new figureheads were shuffled in, who immediately set about destroying NASA’s working culture.

“We haven’t had a real moment of reprieve because it feels like we’re constantly being attacked pretty much on every front that we can think of,” McGrath told NPR. He described a work environment punctuated by information blackouts, random personnel changes, labs and equipment being moved without notice, and errant building closures, all of which makes “little sense” for the work typically done at Goddard.

“They’ve even put chains and locks on the doors to prevent anyone from even entering the building at this point,” McGrath said.

A research analyst named Monica Gorman told NPR she’s worried the administration is trying to paralyze the entire Goddard campus.

“If they do that, there are science and engineering capabilities that the United States, as a whole, is going to lose,” Gorman told the broadcaster. “And it would cost, I don’t even know how many millions and millions of dollars and a really long time if we ever decided we wanted to bring that back.”

One example NPR highlights is the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (RST), which would feature imaging cameras 100 times larger than those currently on the Hubble Space Telescope, which launched in 1990.

According to workers interviewed, many of the engineers working on the RST have been randomly reassigned or simply ousted in the middle of the job. Some, running specialty labs for the RST, had been forced to randomly upend their workshop and move to a different location, slowing work and compromising equipment.

All in all, it’s a sad time for NASA, which has historically been one of the most popular government agencies. With over three years remaining in Trump’s second term, it feels like salvaging the agency could take years — or decades — after he’s gone.

Epstein Warned Trump Was ‘Evil Beyond Belief’ and ‘Mad’ After Mental Health Scrutiny

Jeffrey Epstein branded Donald Trump “evil beyond belief” and “mad” in an email sent hours after he was forwarded a Daily Beast piece questioning the president’s mental stability.

The message, released this week by the House Oversight Committee, captures the disgraced pedophile financier—who died in jail in 2019 aged 66—reacting to a Beast opinion article “How Close Is Donald Trump to a Psychiatric Breakdown?”

The op-ed drew on mental health experts who said Trump displayed signs of mania and posed an “imminent danger” to the public as legal and political pressure mounted around him. It was published the same weekend as porn star Stormy Daniels’ blockbuster 60 Minutes interview, which detailed her alleged affair with Trump and a hush-money deal at the center of his criminal case.

In the March 24, 2018, exchange with then–New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr. that included a link to the piece, Thomas told Epstein that Trump, now 79, was “scaring the s--t” out of him and warned the president “could well tank [the] global economy,” urging Epstein to try to speak to him.

Hours later, Epstein replied: “he feels alone. and is nuts !!! , I told everyone from day one. evil beyond belief. mad, and most thought i was speaking metaphorically. its obvious he could crack.”

The email sent by Jeffrey Epstein to then-New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr., in which he described Trump as "evil beyond belief and mad".

He added, “stormy daniels. ? lies after lies after lies.” It is not clear if Epstein was suggesting Trump, or Daniels, was being misleading in their account of what went on between the pair.

The reference to Daniels came more than six years before the 2024 New York criminal case which saw Trump convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records over a 2016 campaign hush-money payment to the actress, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford. Trump is appealing the verdict.

The March 23, 2018, Beast article by Gail Sheehy and Rosemary Sword reported that prominent psychiatrists had broken with the American Psychiatric Association’s “Goldwater rule” to warn that Trump appeared dangerously unstable, citing concerns he was in a manic state as the Mueller investigation closed in and ahead of Daniels’ upcoming interview.

The “evil beyond belief” email is part of a 20,000-page trove from Epstein’s estate that House Democrats say exposes how closely he tracked Trump’s presidency—and how alarmed he claimed to be.

In other messages, Epstein described Trump as a “maniac” showing signs of “early dementia,” and warned former Obama White House lawyer Kathryn Ruemmler that treating Trump like a mafia boss underestimated the “great dangerous power” of a sitting commander in chief.

Epstein also told Emirati businessman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem in 2018 that “Donald is close to no one… He tells each one something different,” echoing comments he made about Trump on tapes obtained and published by the Daily Beast last year.

The documents shed new light on a long, awkward relationship between the two men. Trump and Epstein moved in the same New York and Palm Beach circles for years.

In 2002, Trump told New York magazine he had “known Jeff for 15 years” and called him a “terrific guy,” adding that “he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

They socialized in the 1990s and early 2000s at Palm Beach, Florida, parties and at Trump’s private members club Mar-a-Lago. Flight logs later showed Trump, then a real estate mogul, flew on Epstein’s private plane several times in the 1990s.

Their relationship is widely reported to have cooled after a 2004 fight over a Florida mansion and claims that Trump later barred Epstein from Mar-a-Lago.

By 2019, after Epstein was arrested on federal sex-trafficking charges, Trump claimed the pair had fallen out years earlier and insisted he had “not spoken to him in 15 years” and was “not a fan,” comments at odds with his earlier praise.

Trump has denied knowing about his abuse of girls. He has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing in Epstein’s abuse of minors and has also always denied any wrongdoing related to the convicted sex offender.

The newly released emails come amid a political fight over the files. Trump has urged supporters to stop pressing him to declassify every record, even as lawmakers from both parties demand full disclosure and have subpoenaed Epstein materials from the Justice Department and his estate.
