While they are kicking migrants out, housing them on boats, shipping them to Rwanda, building fences everywhere, and while coast guards and Frontex violently shake migrants on their ricketty dingies to drown them, and governments use them as pawns in political games (e.g. Belarus and Poland) .....
...the morally superior Europeans are lecturing Lebanon on its racism because its population of 4 million natives is complaining about 2.5 million illegal Syrians who are either economic migrants or are dispatched by the Syrian Assad regime to destabilize the demographics of Lebanon and eventually do to Lebanon what Vladimir Putin has done and is doing to Ukraine.
If they are not turned back inside Syria, those Syrians - moslty young men between the ages of 20 and 30 - will eventually rise up to demand rights and the protection of the Syrian army against those "Fascist Nazi" Lebanese.
No reasonable argument by the Lebanese has been able to convince the Europeans and the UN of the well-grounded fear that Lebanon may disappear as a country if the Syrian illegal migrants end up settling permanently in the country. So far, the Lebanese have been very very patient, and no collective acts of violence have been reported against the Syrians. There are individual clashes here and there, but nothing on the scale of the systematic European violence against similar migrants has taken place in Lebanon. But patience has its limits. Lebanon has been at war since the 1970s when the Palestinian refugees tried to seize power and make Lebanon a substitute Palestine. We do not want to have to do the same thing with the Syrian illegal invaders.
The Syrian illegals are one of a few issues that all the Lebanese, despite their problems and divisions, agree on. Many are calling to shut down the offices of UNHCR and expel their personnel out of the country. Is this what the UN and the EU want?
The solution is not to fear Vladimir Putin and his army in Syria. The solution is not to cave in to dictators and butchers. Syria has been wreaking havoc in Lebanon since the Assad family seized power in a coup in 1970. It's been more than five decades that once peaceful, prosperous and stable Lebanon began sinking into violence thanks to Syria's rejection of the existence of an independent liberal Lebanon. The basis for the suddent influx of Syrian would-be mercenaries, who are neither migrants nor refugees, into Lebanon is a deliberate effort by the Assad regime to occupy the country "demographically" after it failed to occupy it militarily. Ultimately, Assad would love to implement his Baathist ideology that Lebanon was once a province of Syria, just like the other Baathist Saddam Hussein tried to do with Kuwait, and just like Putin is doing with Ukraine.
Is this what Europe and the UN want? Another war in Lebanon that will inevitably be mis-labeled "civil" because for Westerners steeped in colonial racism, Syrians, Lebanese, Palestinians..."are all Arabs", so it doesn't matter if Syrians or Palestinians take over Lebanon because "they're all Arabs". That is how Zionists have convinced the West that the Palestinians, both resident and expat refugees, are "Arabs" who ought to be able to live anywhere in the "Arab world", forget about Palestine and should have no claim to a specific Palestinian identity or to the Right of Return.
Applying this paradigm to the Europe of the 1930s, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Holland and Scandinavia should all have become "German" according to the forced Germanization of Nazi ideology. They should have no rights to specific identities. Applying it to Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine etc., Westerners must therefore agree with Putin that all these nations are "Russian" by forced Soviet Russification and must therefore be subject to Moscow's rule. They too should have no claim to separate identities. Aplying it to the so-called "Arab World", then the dumb racist Europeans have bought into Baathist Assad's claims that Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Kuwait... are all "Arab" and should not be independent nations. How lovely!
Unlike the 1975 war, erroneously labeled a "civil" war, when Yasser Arafat's Palestinians tried to take Lebanon over, if a war erupts between the Lebanese and the Syrians who will likely try to take control of Lebanon, please do not call it a "civil" war. Perhaps UNHCR and the EU should agree with the Syrian butcher in Damascus when he will inevitably declare a "special operation" to "Arabize" Lebanon and rid it of its "racist" people.
