Talal Arslan Wants "Respectable" Ministry in New Lebanese Government

Like Michel Murr a couple of years ago (when Lebanon was also displaying the pathetic spectacle of a failed country that is waiting for other countries to tell it how to form its own government), the dinosaur Druze politician and feudal leader, Talal Arslan, said yesterday that he only "accepts a respectable ministry" in the government that Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, France and the United States are putting together for the inept, incompetent, impotent, and incapable Lebanese politicians.

By "respectable ministry", Arslan means a ministry that has lots of revenues that he can pilfer, or lots of power that he can dispense at will outside the law. Back in 2007 or 2008, Michel Murr, the Neanderthal from Bteghrine (where people still live in caves and bathe only once a year), said that his son, his dear baby Elias (now a Minister of Defense no less in the defunct but acting government), "deserve better than the Ministry of the Environment" which was offered to him. You see, Michel Murr and his progeny and tribe are Greek Orthodox and they represent this religious community in the pathetic religious division of power in the Lebanese political system. So, by posturing himself as wanting a better ministry than the Environment Ministry in the government, Michel Murr appears to be defending the "dignity" of his community against the other communities who are trying to get the better ministries like Defense, Interior, Finance, where all the money is.

These simple statements by Lebanese politicians are at the core of the failure of Lebanon as a country and a state. They reflect the lack of understanding of  what public service and serving in government are really about. They also reflect the abject illiteracy of Lebanon's political establishment on critical matters such as the environment. They reflect the moral turpitude of the Lebanese political class that thinks that such "trivial" ministries as the Environment or Social Affairs or Labor, etc.. are beneath them, while they deserve the better  "important" ministries of Defense, Finance and Interior. But most of all, they reflect the corrupt mindset of that establishment and the doomed future of Lebanon as long as it is governed by corrupt feudal families colluding with the religious establishment to maintain Lebanon as a backward primitive and ungovernable country.

Just think about it: For three months now, the Lebanese politicians have been unable to form a government - Yes, the country is today without a government - because the politicians are each waiting for their bosses in foreign countries like Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the US, France and Iran - to pay attention to the pathetic Lebanese and tell them what to do. Problem is, all these other countries are busy dealing with the revolutions in the Arab world and irrelevant Lebanon is the last fucking thing on their mind right now.

Meanwhile, we have a pro-Syrian dummy castrated President and a pro-Iranian terrorism For-Life Speaker of Parliament, neither of whom does anything other than sit around, visit one another, make pontificating remarks to the press about how they are "meeting to discuss developments in the region" and expressing solidarity with the dictator in Damascus. Then, the cro-magnon bishops of the august Maronite Church in Bkirki just elected a Chimp-in-Chief as Patriarch to oversee the herd of illiterate and backward rednecks of the Maronite villages of Lebanon, and who, like his predecessor, a Cardinal no less in the Child-Fucker Catholic Church, will also squat on his throne, keeping his herd shackled by antiquated beliefs and dispensing useless advice about tolerance and coexistence, while the Lebanese people (including his Maronite herd) continue to live from crisis to crisis, from war to war, from massacre to massacre, from exile to exile, for the past 40 years or so.

And, not to forget, the "environment" of Lebanon which Michel Murr and Talal Arslan looked down on, is virtually destroyed, the forests almost gone, there is not one green patch in all of Beirut except the campus of the American University of Beirut, the roads become swamps at the first rain, there is horrendous traffic jams and virtually no public transportation, electricity is rationed to 8 hours a day (allowing cronies of the politicians to sell diesel-generated electricity to people who have to pay two bills), there is no running drinking water in the country in the Middle East that has the most rivers and downhill water streams, and you have to pay exorbitant bribes just to renew your driver's license. Yes, this is the Lebanon that the politicians are fighting for. And the Lebanese people, in their stupidity, accept this state of affairs and go on living like caged animals without a voice, without a will, and without a future.

You will not find a better example of a failed State than Lebanon among the 200 or so countries that make up the United Nations.

Arslan: We want a respected portfolio

Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan in an interview published on Tursday said that he wants a respected portfolio for his party, or his party will not enter the cabinet. “We will move to opposition and remove the confidence vote for the cabinet [if we do not get a suitable portfolio,” Arslan told As-Safir newspaper.

“It is true that Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati is the one who forms the cabinet, but he should discuss his options with us,” Arslan added. The formation of a new Lebanese cabinet headed by Mikati is reportedly being delayed due to a dispute between President Michel Sleiman and Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun over the Interior Ministry portfolio.

Berri Telephones Assad: Syria's Positions Represent Those of Entire Arab World

Addressing developments in Syria during his weekly parliamentary meeting, Speaker Nabih Berri said: "The situation in Syria was already stable and it will always stand as the fort of Arabism."

"It not only expresses the positions of the Syrian people, but those of the entire Arab world," he stressed.

"Yesterday's scenes from the Arab world confirm that Syrian President Bashar Assad's drive towards development and modernization will continue," Berri continued.

The speaker held a telephone call Assad during which they discussed the latest developments.

I am not surprised that 7 Estonians were kidnapped in Lebanon by the pro-Syrian terror group Hezbollah and taken to Syria; nor am I surprised that two Reuters journalists are also missing in Syria.

Should anyone, in fact, be surprised that 130 innocent Syrians have already been murdered by Bashar Assad and Buthaina Shaaban because they were calling for:
- Releasing the thousands of political prisoners, including all the Lebanese disappeared and abductees.
- Putting term limits to the Syrian president's term (i.e. end the hereditary dictatorship of the Assad tribe)
- Lifting the emergency rule, now in its 50th year
- Granting Parliament and the Judiciary independence (after they had been rubber stamp institutions)
- Granting freedom of the press
- Shutting down the dozen "security services" and "intelligence services" that are nothing but hoodlums paid by Assad to keep the Syrian population terrorized into submission.
- etc.... all the demands that normal people in normal countries take for granted, but in Syria, all the above has been denied to the people for 50 years, supposedly because the Assad dictatorship was "fighting Israel" and "resisting the Zionist enemy" and all the bullshit.

In fact, the Syrian people are not dumb. For 50 years, Assad has been a friend of Israel, protecting it on the Golan, never firing a shot across the border, never allowing any resistance against the Israeli occupation of his own Golan, yet yelling all the time about the Israeli occupation of Palestine and Lebanon (both of which really no longer want to fight Israel and have been ready for decades to make peace with Israel and get on with life).

So Assad is all posturing as a "freedom fighter" while on the ground he is a liar and a traitor. This whole construct of liberating Arab land, resisting colonialism (now gone 70 years ago), Arab nationalism....it's all a bunch of bullshit used by the Assad regime to hold on to power, steal money from the Syrian people,enrich himself and his family and tribe, and maintain the minority rule of the Alawis (10%) over the vast Sunni majority (80%) of the Syrian people, with a brutality never seen in any other Arab country except in Saddam's Iraq. After all, Saddam and Bashar both are BAATHISTS. They belong to the same party, the same ideology, the same barbarity, the same brutality....

What I do find surprising, however, is that the Lebanese tolerate the demonstrations in Beirut for and against BAshar. Syria is a foreign country, and Lebanon should not be involved in Syrian affairs. Syrians and Syrian jackasses demonstrating in Beirut are cowards: They should go to their Syria and demonstrate there and help change their own country, instead of bothering and disturbing the Lebanese who have enough of their own problems. SYRIA BELONGS TO THE SYRIANS: Syrians in Lebanon should all go home and only return to Lebanon with proper visas and passports, pay taxes to the Lebanese State as non-resident aliens, and only after Syria becomes a decent respectable country and not the cesspool that it has been for 50 years under the Baath Party.

Lebanese authorities are well advised to begin evicting and deporting any undocumented Syrian worker or student or intelligence operative from Lebanon. The Lebanese people evicted the Syrian army in 2005, but then allowed all the motherfucker Syrian spies and haters of Lebanon to stay, because of Hezbollah's ties to the regime. This has to end.

the nightmare will be finally over, after 5 decades of agony for Lebanon and the Lebanese people.

Since independence in the 1940s the Syrians rejected Lebanon's right to exist as an independent country. The Baath Party wanted Lebanon to be yet another Syrian province where they can pilfer, steal, kill, torture, repress.....

Syria is the only artificial country created after WWII by the mandatory powers by patching up together a bunch of cities that have nothing in common. Lattakieh and the surrounding hills of the Jabal Al-Nasarah [the mountain of the Christians] consisting of Christians and Alawis on the Mediterranean belong to Lebanon and should have been attached to it. In the North, the city of Aleppo is Turkish and should have remained under Turkish sovereignty. In the Northeast, Al-Hasaka is Kurdish, and the future nation of Kurdistan (now an autonomous republic within Iraq, should encompass it. The only genuine Syrian cities are Homs, Hama and Damascus - all Sunni desert Arabs - خلي الخرى يطبش بعضو- In the south and southeast, the Jabal Druze and the Hauran are mostly Druze and Christian...

And the Baath thugs call this the pusating penis of the Arab world... when all that it is is the limp fucked up patchwork of tribes who hate each other and have no sense of unity whatsoever, let alone an Arab one.

In the 1950s and 1960s, while Lebanon emerged as a prosperous liberal tolerant country, Syria was plagued by coup d'etats and political assassinations because of this mish-mash of tribes and ethnic groups that did not want to be together in the dysfunctional bastard country called Syria  - just like neighboring Iraq. There were on average more coups in Syria than there were years (i.e. more than one coup per year). Until the Assad coup in 1970 and his brutal rule that is only now - 2011 - unraveling.

The Syrian Baath Party and the Assads HATED LEBANON and its success. The jealousy and animosity against Lebanon was visible everywhere. Syria refused to post an ambassador in Beirut until 2009, just to underscore that it never recognized Lebanon's independence. Syria used to shut its borders with Lebanon whenever it wanted to extract a concession from the Lebanese government, and since Beirut Harbor was the single most important point of trade between the West and the Arab hinterland, these actions brought distress to the entire economy of the region. I remember how in the late 1960s, there will be 200-300 ships out in the Mediterranean waiting for their turn to dock in Beirut and unload their merchandise... Trucks with then haul the stuff up the arduous and impenetrable Lebanese mountain pass of Dahr El Baidar en route to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf which were in the early days of their oil booms.

Beginning in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when Lebanon was at its zenith of financial prosperity and political vigor (free parliamentary elections were carried out on time every 4 years, and several presidents succeeded one another every 6 years in peaceful transfers of powers), Syria began sending hordes of terrorists and militias across the border (Al-Saika, Al-Yarmuk Brigades, Al-'Assifa, the Palestine Liberation Army, the PFLP, etc... and many others, some under cover Baath thugs while others were PAlestinians operating under Syrian tutelage...), not to mention Syria's use of the PLO of Yasser Arafat to begin undermining the State of Lebanon, supposedly because they (the Syrian Baath and the Palestinians) needed to do this to liberate their fucking Palestine.  Kidnappings of Lebanese soldiers and gendarmes, bombings, hijackings, shooting at Israel from Lebanese south (but never from the Syrian Golan, mind you), forcing the now compliant pro-Syrian Lebanese Sunnis to act against their own country: Prime Minister Rashid Karami would paralyze the Lebanese government for months on end because the Lebanese Army bombed the Palestinian camps that were challenging the authority of the State.

This situation brought Israeli retaliations, of course, such as Israel's blowing up of 13 Middle East Airlines planes on Beirut Tarmac in 1968, not to mention the constant Israeli retaliations on Shiite and Christian villages in the Lebanese south after unprovoked Syro-Palestinian attacks against Israel's northern villages.

There is much more to this sordid escalation than can be discussed here, but those who don;t know the genesis of the Lebanese crisis and how we came to be where we are today, they should know that Syria's Assads (father and son) are the main criminals behind the descent of the only decent Arab country of Lebanon from paradise to hell. I was there. I lived it all. Israel up to the 1960s had never attacked Lebanon. Lebanon and Israel remain attached to the 1949 armistice agreement and were essentially on friendly terms, until Syria began forcing Lebanon to become a war front against Israel INSTEAD of Syria itself. In other words, while the Syrians avoided shooting one bullet from Syrian territory against Israel, they were all for "resistance and liberation" from Lebanon, but not from Syria... Hypocrites, liars, traitors.... those are the Syrian Baathist thugs...

I blame Syria for what happened to Lebanon over the past 50 years, and I blame all those who worked with Syria on this criminal act, including the US who used to tell the Lebanese at the height of the brutal Syrian occupation that "Syria is a factor of stability" in Lebanon. Just read what the pro-Syrian regime motherfucker apologists of the State Department (Edward Djeredjian, Richard Murphy, James Fucking Baker, and other) used to tell the Lebanese when they complained about what Syria was doing to Lebanon...

And now that Syria is crumbling and the Syrian people are dying and the Syrian regime is collapsing and that there will be - Inshallah - civil war in Syria, I can only feel gleeful and happy that the Syrian bastards are going to get a taste of the same medicine they have been dispensing to the Lebanese for so many decades. I wish the worst for Syria. I wish massacres, killing, burning cities, devastated villages, and such horrible things fall on all of Syria and all of Syria's villages and cities. Nothing can ever erase the pain that Syria and its regime have caused to the Lebanese, and only a cathartic calamity like the one I just described can make the Lebanese feel any sympathy for the country next door.

Not Surprising: Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah Supports Demonstrators in Bahrain, but Opposes Demonstrators in Syria.

Like the UNPRINCIPLED SOLD-OUT mercenary son-of-a-bitch that he is, "Shoeshine Boy" Hassan Nasrallah of the terrorist Hezbollah militia:

- SUPPORTS reformist protesters against Sunni dictators, but
- OPPOSES reformist protesters against Shiite or Alawi dictators.

This should be enough for anyone who was ever stupid enough to believe this megalomaniac asshole to finally understand that Hassan has no principles. All his talk about liberating, justice for the downtrodden, and such Chavezian bullshit is hot air. All that Hassan cares about is power, and power military-style. Not the power of reason, not the power of conviction, not the power of a just cause.... The power of guns; the power of inflicting fear; the power of terror. These he understands.

Of course, Nasrallah is probably wetting his pantaloons and his turban right now, as he watches his Syrian pimp Bashar Al-Assad' regime kill his people, make concessions, and pretend to be a reformist (after 40 years of tyranny, assassinations, bombings, murder, prisons, etc.)... because the end game for Assad and the Baath Party is either exile in some fucking desert (like Mubarak or Ben-Ali), or a fight to the death (as in Libya or Yemen).

Neither scenario is comforting for Shoeshine Boy Nasrallah (مساح الصرامي) because the Syrian dictatorship has been his backer as he has taken Lebanon down the abyss with his delusions of liberating Palestine, and sending his young Shiite idiots die for a lost cause on behalf of Iran. Imagine for a second what will Hassan do if he can no longer smuggle his missiles, sneak in his Iranian buddies, and export his terrorism to Egypt, to Argentina, to Holland and elsewhere where his "Rambo" dreams take him, all of this across the loose border with Syria. Without Syria, Hassan will no longer be able to terrorize his fellow Lebanese into submission.

Hassan, ya khara, start packing a suitcase. In fact, you probably have a suitcase ready ever since you realized that the Israelis will get you one day, no matter how far you run. If the Lebanese had any guts, they would themselves put a bullet in your skull. But they are cowards, all of them, the Jumblatts, the Hariris, the Aouns.... So, prepare that suitcase because you will need it to spend the rest of your days in Iran, hopefully in a bunker in Natanz which will soon be blown up...

HEZBOLLAH SAYS ESTONIANS ARE ISRAELI SPIES

There are rumors circulating in Beirut that the 7 Estonians who were kidnapped two days ago in the Bekaa Valley (an area under the control of Syria and its allied Hezbollah and Palestinian terror organizations) are suspected by the Iranian terrorist organization of Hassan Nasrallah of being Israeli agents sent to Lebanon undercover - with Estonian passports - with the goal of assassinating Hassan Nasrallah.

Rumors like this have become increasingly credible following the assassination in Dubai by Israeli Mossad agents, all traveling on fake European passports, of Hamas militant Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in February 2010.

Since Estonia does not have an embassy in Lebanon, the entry of Estonians into Lebanon from Syria is highly suspect because the Syrian regime has a record of undercover participation in assassinations of people who otherwise are believed to be allies of Syria. One such example is the assassination in the heart of Damascus of Imad Mughniyeh, the number 2 terrorist-in-chief of Hezbollah, which no one believes would have been possible without the active acquiescence, if not the direct execution of the operation, by the Syrian regime. Although a collusion between Syria and Israel is possible, the most credible hypothesis is that Mughniyeh knew too much information that Syria had to silence him, lest he directly implicates Syria's and Bashar Al-Assad's role in the 2005 Hariri assassination that is the subject of a prosecution by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague.

Given the pressures of the Syrian regime - domestic uprisings, an imminent indictment by the Special Tribunal for Lebanon prosecutor of Syria and its Hezbollah allies in the assassination of Rafik Hariri, etc. - it is reasonable to assume that the Assad regime is now falling back on its old tactics of kidnappings, assassinations, bombings... to reclaim the initiative, a strategy that worked well for the regime for many decades. The sudden eruption of hostilities between Israel and Hamas (the bombing in Jerusalem two days ago) - after a lull of several years - is another indication that the Syrian-Iranian-Hezbollah-Hamas axis is trying perhaps to capture the headlines after its relevance in its so-called "liberation and resistance" platform has been amply diminished by the genuine grassroots revolutions sweeping the Arab world.

If anything, those revolutions have revealed that the REAL ANGER of the Arab masses is not against Israel or in support of the Palestinians, but rather is essentially aimed at the homefront in each of these countries, on matters related to livelihoods, economy, democracy, human rights, freedoms, etc....The Palestinian so-called "suffering" is not the rallying cry of Arab peoples, as the Arab dictators keep on telling the West. The Palestinian cause is the last thing on people's minds in the Arab world today.

The Estonian hostages will in all likelihood become pawns in the old Syrian game of terrorizing the West into accepting its conditions. It remains to be seen if this old tactic will work in 2011 as well as it worked in the 1980s in Lebanon, when Syrian extracted everything it wanted from Europe and the US by terrorizing them and bombing them and kidnapping them and hijacking them.

The sad thing is that the 7 Estonians have fallen victims of Syria's and Iran's machinations. Let us hope that the West shows the resolve and the determination needed not to be blackmailed by Syria and its allies in Lebanon. HEZBOLLAH KIDNAPS ESTONIAN HOSTAGES IN BEKAA VALLEY

Cornered in his rat hole, and hemmed in in South Lebanon by the Lebanese army, the Israeli army, and UNIFIL, Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah is now resorting to the old tactics he - and his criminal terrorist-in-chief Imad Mughniyyeh (الله يغمقلو) - used in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s to terrorize all the foreign friends of Lebanon out of the country.

Seven Estonian nationals were kidnapped yesterday in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley by masked gunmen members of Hezbollah. Observers say that Hezbollah and Syria are now under so much pressure to remain relevant, have begun resorting to the terror tactics they used in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s to make themselves relevant again. For one, Hezbollah has been since 2006 cornered into irrelevance because it can no longer shoot rockets on Israel and provoke Israel to retaliate, thus creating a never-ending justification for its existence as a "liberation" organization. The longer time goes by without Hezbollah provoking Israel, the more likely the Lebanese will forget the "resistance" bullshit that Hezbollah has used to coerce the Lebanese into supporting it. 

Syria, on the other hand, is unraveling slowly as the demonstrations against the criminal Baathist regime of the butcher Bashar Assad mount, and as the regime retaliates by killing more of its own people. Syria is on a path to self-implosion, and the regime is trying to scare the West by resorting to its old tactics of starting fires in Lebanon, then turning around and telling the West that it can put those fires down. By engineering the kidnapping of foreigners inside Lebanon, using its Hezbollah proxy, Syria is sending the message to the West that if Syria falls into chaos, then Lebanon will too.....

7 Estonian cyclists kidnapped by Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon

BEIRUT (AP) -- Armed men believed to be Hezbollah operatives and wearing masks kidnapped seven Estonians who were cycling in eastern Lebanon on Wednesday. The group was abducted in Kfar Zabad in Lebanon's eastern Bekaa Valley, an area under the shared control of the Iranian terrorist organization Hezbollah and Syrian-backed Palestinian terror organizations.

Like the rash of abductions during Lebanon's bitter civil war, in which at least 88 foreigners were taken hostage by Hezbollah between 1984 and 1990, including Americans, Britons, French, Indians, Irish, and others, only to die after several years of detention, or be released in a trickle that was timed with shipment of arms from the Reagan Administration to the Khomeini regime in Tehran. Once released from the Bekaa Valley or Hezbollah's Beirut Southern Suburb stronghold, the hostages were paraded in Damascus which took credit for "liberating" the hostages.

In August, two Polish tourists were kidnapped near the eastern city of Baalbeck - Hezbollah's de facto capital, but the motive and circumstances surrounding the abduction were unclear.

The Asads are responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands of people - in Syria and in Lebanon. Tens of thousands remain in Syria's notorious jails, forgotten by the world, kidnapped from every walk of life in Syria and Lebanon, Lebanese, Palestinians, Arabs of every nationality...... And then once in a while, when the West pretends to threaten him, or when Israel pretends to bomb Syria (only twice since 1973), he throws the dogs a bone so they stop barking: He gives them a couple of these innocent people and political dissidents as "Terrorists", so that the stupid West goes on saying that Asad is helping them in the "War on terrorism", while in reality he has derailed the Palestinian-Israeli peace process for decades (thus giving Israel all the time it needed to gobble up whatever remains of Palestine), and he has forced Lebanon into a 40-year long war of attrition with Israel (thus forcing the permanent settlement of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and saving Israel from the "Right of Return").

He, in fact, aborted the Kurdish nationalist movement (Yes, Assad is with "freedom fighters", as long as they serve his interests) when he betrayed Abdallah Ocalan, and deported him to Kenya where the Turkish motherfuckers arrested him. Why did Assad do that? Because he is a coward. Turkey moved some troops to the border and Assad, within 24 hours, had buckled under the pressure.

Meanwhile, he has built up Syria by lining up his family's pockets with all the big investments, enriching himself and his family while his people further succumbed to poverty, just like the fat pig Rafik Hariri did in Lebanon. That's how it works in the Arab world, and that is why there are all these revolutions.  Assad, the "pulsating penis" of the Arab world (in Baathist double-speak), in fact never fought Israel along the occupied Golan Heights. Since 1973, he has voted every year side-by-side with the "enemy" Israel at the UN to renew the mandate of the UN Observer force on the Golan, something which he continues to deny to the Lebanese who believe they at least deserve the same peace arrangement (if not outright negotiations and a peace treaty with Israel) on the Shebaa Farms. Assad pretends to stand up to the "Zionist enemy", yet he has done everything he can to help the Zionist regime. In Syria, he helps the Zionists, but in Lebanon, he fights them, in a very convenient arrangement that has destroyed Lebanon but afforded Syria 40 years of peace.

If there is one traitor to the Palestinian Cause, it is the Assad regime in Syria.

Ibrahim Kanaan is the typical Lebanese politician who, instead of resigning when he disagrees with his own party, clings like a leach to his boss even as he disagrees with him, and sticks to the "tribe",  instead of speaking out and telling what he honestly believes.

Everyone at the Free Patriotic Movement of the angry senile demented Michel Aoun knows the truth: They fucked up by signing a MOU with the terrorist Hezbollah organization. They all know that Aoun signed that memorandum in angry spite and not out of conviction. Yet, they have been, since 2006, lying to their constituency, in their desperate attempts to justify their untenable political platform. They have changed their political discourse from what it used to be prior to 2005 (anti-Syria, anti-hijacking of Lebanese sovereignty, anti-Hezbollah....) to total slaves to the Syrian regime. Ibrahim Kanaan is today like all the other FPM Aoun ass-kissers: Alain Aoun, Simon Abi-Ramia, Farid Khazen, Pierre Raffoul, and especially the "favorite poodle son-in-law" of Aoun, Jebran Bassil, who has failed at every parliamentary election but who Aoun insists on being a Minister in every cabinet, etc... Wikileaks: Kanaan Described FPM and Hizbullah MOU as a Mistake

Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan described the memorandum of understanding between Hizbullah and the Free Patriotic Movement as a "mistake", according to a leaked U.S. Embassy cable published exclusively in Al-Akhbar on Thursday.
 

He instead suggested that a partnership was necessary between FPM leader MP Michel Aoun and then Prime Minister Fouad Saniora in order to end Lebanon's political crisis, said the Wikileaks report dated July 14, 2006.

The cable also reported him as saying that efforts should be made to prevent Hizbullah from climbing to a position of power in Lebanon, which he said could be avoided through an agreement between the March 14 camp and the FPM.

The MP made his statements to a political diplomat from the U.S. Embassy.

Kanaan also described the July 12, 2006, Hizbullah kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers that sparked the July war as "reckless", warning that it would threaten Lebanon's democracy and return the country back under Syria's hegemony.

Furthermore, he said, in a later cable dated July 18, that a partnership between Aoun and Saniora would help in reaching a ceasefire in the July 2006 war.

The cable, signed by then U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Jeffery Feltman, quoted Kanaan as saying that some FPM members, such as minister Jebran Bassil, wield a greater influence on Aoun than others.

Why isn't there a single Lebanese politician -like for example, the other imbecile "leading" the March 14 dinosaurs, Saad Hariri) who stands up and tells his people once and for all that the solution to Lebanon's 50-year old problem is for Lebanon to NEGOTIATE AND MAKE PEACE WITH ISRAEL, like civilized people and countries do, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE MOTHERFUCKER BASHAR ASSAD IN FILTHY SYRIA THINKS, and just like every other fucking Arab country from Jordan, Egypt, Palestine and down... WHY DO THE POLITICIANS OF LEBANON INSIST ON LIBERATING PALESTINE WITH THEIR OWN PEOPLE'S BLOOD while all the other Arabs are chummy with Israel? WikiLeaks:then-defense minister Elias Murr, Michel's dear baby boy,  told US envoy of willingness to "hit back" at Iran-backed guerrillas.

'Lebanese army seized Hezbollah rockets in 2nd Lebanon War' 

At the height of the Second Lebanon War, Lebanon's defense minister told the US ambassador that the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) had seized a shipment of rockets destined for Hezbollah, according to a leaked US State Department cable, furnished by WikiLeaks and published by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar on Sunday.

According to the cable, Defense Minister Elias Murr, in a meeting with US Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman, claimed that during the first week of August 2006, the LAF intercepted and seized a container of rockets bound for Hezbollah. If true, the act would represent an intriguing instance of the LAF actively restraining and preventing the Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrillas from resupplying arms in wartime.

 

Earlier in the meeting, the Lebanese defense minister said he believed Syria had been able to resupply Hezbollah with 2,500 rockets before Israel destroyed supply roads linking Syria and Lebanon.

Discussing the possibility that the war would escalate further, Murr told Feltman that he did not believe Hezbollah would follow through on threats to attack Tel Aviv. He said that the order for such an escalation would need to come from Tehran.

In order for that to happen, he explained, Israel would have to strike downtown Beirut, which he didn¹t believe would happen. He said that the only way the IDF would strike the center of Lebanon's capital was if Hezbollah moved rocket launchers there, something he dismissed as "impossible," saying, "I have too many soldiers there." During the 34-day war against Hezbollah, Israel did attack infrastructure targets in the Beirut area.

Addressing the then-impending cease fire, Murr told the US ambassador that the LAF would be willing to actively confront Hezbollah elements in southern Lebanon.

According to the American ambassador, "Murr stated clearly that the LAF was prepared to hit back at Hezbollah if they attempted to fire at Israel or tried to draw Israeli fire by placing launchers near to LAF positions." Asked by Feltman if he believed Hezbollah would accept an LAF presence in the south of the country, the Lebanese defense minister said, "Let them play with the Lebanese army. When we're in the South, anyone who moves, we'll shoot at. No joke." In order to prevent further Hezbollah rearming, Murr supported the idea of UNIFIL or other United Nations forces deploying at Lebanese air and sea ports, "to reassure the Israelis that Hezbollah will not be resupplied." The meeting between Murr and Feltman took place shortly before a Lebanese cabinet session, which approved the deployment of 15,000 LAF troops in southern Lebanon under a cease-fire that would only later materialize as part of UNSC Resolution 1701.

Bahrain and Libya: A Tale of Two Countries

The minority-ruling Bahraini monarchy finished off its majority protesters today with the help of foreign troops it imported from neighboring GCC countries, as Western countries - including the US - continue to issue calls for restraint.

In contrast, Western countries have been up in arms and barking day in and out with threats of imposing a no-fly zone over Libya, and secretly dispatching weapons and military advisors to the Libyan rebel of Benghazi...

Regardless of the different interests that the two situations and countries may present to the West, the bottom line is that the difference in handling the two situations reeks of a lack or principles and mercantilism, and point to an abject subservience to one client dictator while pontificating to, and threatening, another, though both of them are killing their own people who are protesting for democracy and human rights.

The US did the same thing to Lebanon over the past 40 years. It sold its principles and allowed its own marines to be butchered in 1983 to placate and acquiesce to Syria's takeover the country, because US interests in licking the assholes of their own dictatorial enemies - the Syrians and their Saudi backers - were bigger than US interests of rescuing the only semi-functioning democracy in the Arab world. In fact, it was Ronald Reagan, the Republican hero who soapy American lore tells us brought down the Berlin Wall, who sent the Marines to Beirut in 1982 to help evacuate Yasser Arafat's sorry ass from Beirut (because that pleased the Saudi friends of Reagan). When Iran and Syria created Hezbollah in Beirut to blow up the marines in October 1983, Reagan quickly packed whatever remained of his marines and they all fled like foxes at the hunt, leaving Syria to overrun the legitimate Lebanese government and put Lebanon into the deep-freeze of the Syrian Gulag until 2005. Even worse, Reagan was caught a couple of years later selling  weapons to Iran in the Contra Affair scandal that nearly brought his government down. In fact, the day after the US Marines were blown up in Beirut (October 23, 1983), Reagan sent his troops to invade the Caribbean island of Granada as a way to deflect the attention of the US media away from the disaster unfolding in Beirut. What a disgrace.

What a pathetic mix of bullshit one hears today about Reagan and about the American principles to which all the downtrodden peoples of the world supposedly aspire.... One US Navy base in Bahrain is all it takes to ignore barbaric Islamic monarchies who rule over their peoples like absolute monarchs from the Stone Age, while making Quixotic grandstanding when it comes to another dictator doing the same thing to his people a mere thousand miles away. After the imbecile George W. Bush lied to the world with his claim to "no longer make deals with dictatorships at the expense of their peoples' strive for freedom" (a claim he made repeatedly soon after September 11, only to abandon it and return to the same old business of licking oily Arab asses), we now find Barack Obama doing the same thing. "Change" is what he promised us, him too, when he was elected. All we're getting from Obama is pecuniary "change" from high-browed lofty American principles that seem to apply only to big US corporations and their filthy friends around the world, but not to regular ordinary folks who have to suffer the consequences every day of their lives. Indeed, the American Empire went virtually straight from barbarity to decline with nary a few years in between of seeming civilization.

Lebanon today is back under Syrian rule. Syria remains on the US State Department of State Sponsors of terrorism. For 50 years, Syria has threatened wars with its arch-enemy Israel, yet never fought one while  forcing its smaller neighbor Lebanon to fight that same war on its behalf with proxy terrorist organizations. Syria continues to support the only two remaining obstacles to peace in the Middle East, namely Hezbollah and Hamas. Yet, there is a US Embassy in Damascus, and US Senators and officials continue to grant the vulgar Syrian dictatorship the respectability and deference it never deserved. The US continues to grant Syria a veto over any solution in Lebanon. The US does not push Syria into negotiating peace with Israel, and instead allows Syria to continue to hold Lebanon hostage to a hypothetical and (very) future peace agreement between Israel and Syria.

Makes you wonder why? Does anyone know why?

I wonder which side will Obama and the US Administration take - Bashar Al-Asad and his criminal empire, or Syrian protesters - if protests erupt in Damascus demanding human rights? Which interests will tip the balance to one or the other side? Will the interests of the US be on the side of a Syria that keeps a fake peace with Israel along the Golan and that is working in tandem with the US and Israel to permanently settle the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon (thus exculpating Israel of the moral and material burden of the Right of Return)? Will US interests be on the side of a regime that has massacred, killed, bombed, imprisoned, tortured.... for decades? Or will US interests be on the side of the Lebanese people and the Syrian people, both traumatized by decades of barbaric despotism at the hands of the Assads and the Syrian Baath Party?

If Lebanon was a normal country - by normal, I mean genuinely democratic and in which the entire enterprise of having a state, a government, and institutions is TO SERVE THE PEOPLE of the fucking country - this jackass and with him, the other filthy beggar Hassan "Shoeshine Boy" Nasrallah, would be selling newspapers and operatin a shoeshine stand at Beirut Airport. 

These people - and with them all the Patriarchs, Bishops, Muftis, Sheikhs, Sayyids.... and such delusional titles from the Stone Age - have only one claim to their power, which is that EACH ONE OF THEM KNOWS THE TRUE MESSAGE OF GOD better than the other. Can you believe that in this 21st century, the lives of millions of ordinary people, millions of poor and marginalized people, are made to depend on the religious fabrications and lies of people like that? 

Is it even possible that people STILL BELIEVE that the WEARING of STRANGE HATS and TURBANS, and the uttering nonsensical bullshit about prophets, gods, sons of god, virgin mothers, and other inane stories from thousands of years ago, gives people like Naim Qassem or Hassan Nasrallah or Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir or any of the motherfucker clergymen who run our lives.... Is it conceivable that people are still so ignorant not to recognize that their miserable lives are caused - directly - by the power that these jerks hold over them because of religious myths from thousands of years ago?

What kind of people are we, the Lebanese, to accept this state of affairs? To accept to be massacred because of some stupid religious stuff, to allow our lives for the past half a century to be disrupted, to be ruined, to see our country turned into a whorehouse, to see our children die, maimed, or emigrate for no return? HOW CAN THE LEBANESE PEOPLE ACCEPT TO DE TREATED LIKE CATTLE and still BOW TO THESE RELIGIOUS DINOSAURS?

We, the Lebanese, are primitive, living in the Stone Age. We are masochistic because we love to be killed and treated like idiots who have no will, who have no say over their lives, who have no say over their government..... Just look at the charade of forming a government: Every fucking dictatorship in the area have an opinion and a say over OUR GIVERNMENT. Syria has a say, Saudi Arabia has a say, the US has a say, France has a say, Iran has a say....

But WE, the LEBANESE, have no say. We just watch the movie like total zombies, knowing that the conclusion of Miqati's quest for a government that pleases all these countries and all these religious motherfuckers, and all those dictators will be a government that does not please us, that does not serve us, that does not give us any security, that does not serve our everyday lives from electricity, water, roads, schools, etc... 

We are NOT a people. We are a herd of brainless animals who have no purpose in life but to avoid getting killed. That is one pretty fantastic way of defining ourselves. 

For the Lebanese people, LIVING = AVOIDING DEATH. Living does not mean enjoying life, having control of one's decisions, having control over one's environment and one's future.... No, life for the Lebanese is one long flight, one long episode of fear, one long life of wounded animals whose only reaction to kindness is to bite the hand that is kind to you.

That is why I called this blog LEBANON IZNOGOOD, because Lebanon is rotten at the core. As long as WE, the ORDINARY LEBANESE, HAVE NO CONTROL OVER OUR LIVES, WE ARE ROTTEN AND WE DO NOT DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT. 

When foreigners ask me about why has Lebanon been in war since the late 1960s, I tell them: WE DESERVE IT. WE NEVER DID ANYTHING TO CHANGE OUR REALITY THAT KEEPS GETTING US INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S WARS.... We have the country and the government that we earned and deserved.

Maronite Chimpanzee Bishops to Elect 77th Scumbag Patriarch

Another sect in Lebanon is electing its scumbag head, the Maronite Patriarch. Like his predecessors, this person will sit on the throne of this pathetic little church for another 35 years or so, and will continue to preside over endless divisions and massacres, promote Mafia activities both within the Church and with powerful feudal families - all of whom reek of corruption, child-fucking, money-making, and other "divine" activities. 

The Head Maronite Chimpanzee will also perpetuate the basic function of any church, which is to herd its backward illiterate peasants like sheep and keep them chained to the past by antiquated beliefs and religious myths. 

Moreover, this church, in tandem with the other 17 religious corporations that make up Lebanon (Muslim: Shiite, Druze, Sunni, Jaafari, Alawi....) and Christian: Maronite, Latin Catholic, Greek-Catholic, Syriac-Catholic, Armenian Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox....) will continue to collude together to keep the entire Lebanese people neatly packed into hostile sects that kill each other regularly, while the corporations themselves make money, consolidate their power over the people and the State, and prevent state institutions from moving toward a modern secular state where religion is confined to the home, rather than it controlling every political, social, administrative function of the State.

The Chimpanzees in Bkirki spent the war years fattening their bellies, sleeping with nuns, fucking and molesting children - like their friends over in the Vatican and every Church around the world - while their "herd" was being massacred and evicted by ethnic cleansing from the other sects (who are identical copies to the Maronite corporation, except that they have different names, wear different hats and beards....)

What a fucking atrocity is this Lebanon that is grounded in religion. Lebanon today is as backward as Afghanistan or any other third world religiously based country. Except the Lebanese think they can fart higher than their assholes, by wearing chic and speaking chic. Deep inside, though, they are primitive religious numskulls.... Just look at the Maronite Chimpanzees and the Shiite Fuckallah Hassan of Hezbollah vintage. I don;t see any difference
