As the Syrian bloodbath continues, most of us Lebanese - ordinary people, not the fucking politicians - have no idea how to feel about the situation in Homs.
On one hand, we feel pity and sorry for the Syrian people as they get pounded by Syrian artillery, with houses crumbling over their heads and glass and metal littering their streets. After all, we - including myself - lived for years under similar sieges by the Syrian army (supposedly in Lebanon between 1976 and 2005 as a peacekeeping force). Beirut in 1978 and 1981 (those are the ones I remember), and Zahleh and many others. Or during the Battle of the Mountain (معركة الجبل) when we were fleeing like rabbits in the pine woods surrounding our villages because our homes in the mountain did not have shelters... Too many memories of blood and destruction, all visited on us by the same Syrian army now pounding its own people with the same barbarity and savagery.
You see, the Syrian army is a piece of shit. They are all conscripted cowards who are poorly trained and poorly armed. There is no morale in the ranks of the Syrian army. Most of the soldiers are Sunni shitheads fighting under orders from Alawite fuckers, and they are asked to bomb their own communities... But the point is that the Syrian army knows one thing and only one thing when it comes to fighting: Surround the cities and towns and villages and bomb them day in and day out with Soviet era tanks. There is no arm to arm combat, there is no strategy. Keep bombing and shelling and pounding - combatants and civilians alike, indiscriminately, without any strategic targets or plans of attack, and hope that the other side will cry uncle and surrender.
That was how it was in Lebanon. We would spend days on end in the shelters, with the bombs and shells falling overhead, blasting buildings and houses, opening craters in the asphalt of the streets... and then during the occasional lulls, we'd come out and tally the losses: Who died, who lost a leg, who bled to death, whose house burned.... The Militias - Phalangists of Amine Gemayel and Lebanese Forces of Samir Geagea and such would be running above ground during the shelling (while we were in the shelters) robbing houses, raping women, pilfering stores... and pretend that they were defending us. Right in front of my eyes one time, they dragged a father of four from his underground shelter to open his store under the shelling so they can rob it. When he refused, they shot him point blank in front of his wife and children. These were the "Christian" militias... Christian my ass. These are the people whom Patriarch Ras Ayri Rahi considers his army. Hezbollah today is doing the same thing to the Shiite population: Cooperate with a gun to your head. That is the problem in Lebanon: People live like coward sheep under their own totalitarian community run by the Clergy and the Churches and the colluding feudal politicians. Dare stand out and they destroy you.
So, I feel sympathy for the Syrian people. But back when the Syrian army was doing this sort of thing to the Lebanese civilian population, the whole world - UN, US, France, UK, Arabs, Kharabs, Russians, Saudi criminals, Egyptian traitors, Emirate turncoats and Kuwaiti bankers bankrolling the PLO and the Syrian onslaught on Lebanon, Chinese, Israeli racists who were, and are still, colluding with the Syrian tyrant, and every son of a bitch and motherfucker in the international community - was blaming the Lebanese people: "You are unruly", they would tell us. "Let the Syrians impose peace", "You can't govern yourselves".... So, they enabled the Syrian regime to take over Lebanon by force of tanks and all the cannons and all the shells..... It took 30 years for all these international and Arab jackasses to realize that they had created a monster, and now they have no way of stopping it from genociding its own people.
So, even if I feel sympathy for the Syrian people, I also feel gleeful and I بشمت (bishmat) the Syrian people. And I say to myself: May the Syrian army keep pounding Homs and Halab and all the shitty Syrian cities for 20 or 30 years. May half the Syrian population leave the country and flee as refugees to the four corners of the world. May every road and every village in Syria become a tomb and a grave for millions of Syrians. May no one ever come to the rescue to the Syrian people because it is that very same people who sent their sons to Lebanon to kill, maim, kidnap, torture, shell, etc... us, the Lebanese people.
May the agony of Syria continue for half a century, to prove that Syrian is - like Lebanon and Israel - an artificial country clobbered together by world wars with disparate communities who will continue to massacre one another whenever they can in the name of the fucking three religions: Judaism, Islam and Christianity. All junk religions based on racism and supremacy, bent on genocides, built on myths from the Stone Age of humanity.
The Syrian people deserve the fire being visited upon them because for 50 years they allowed their dictator to do this to them. For decades, they believed and subscribed to the poison that the Syrian Baath Party spewed into their stupid brains to believe all the crap about Arab nationalism: Lebanon should be annexed to Syria. The Christians of Lebanon are crusaders and imperialists and Zionists, and must be exterminated. ...
We live in a region where barbarism reign supreme. Not a country in the Middle East has escaped the curse of religion. The God-chosen Israeli people who run around, claiming to be a democracy, when the entire premise of their fucking country is based on the same exact premise upon which shitty Saudi Arabia is based: Religion, and one specific people subscribing to that religion. And if you are not one of us, then we will deport you, we will persecute you, we will take your homes, we will hunt you down, to make sure that ISrael remains Jewish and Saudi Arabia remains Muslim. Yup, that is democracy, middle eastern arab jewish khara style.
Finally, while I got myself all riled up: Today is Saint Maroun's Day in lebanon, the patron saint of the maronite community. Another one of those thousands of tribes who 2,000 years ago decided to follow a smelly old bearded man who was hallucinating in the hills (because of self-imposed hunger and poor hygiene) about how God spoke to him and the son of God told him to believe that He is three people in one, while the Basile in Constantinople wanted him to believe that He is three different people.... And that literally - Byzantine - argument led to massacres and genocides that continue to this day.
The Maronites are no better than any of the tribes surrounding them. They live is a society of feudal lords and clergymen who operate vast financial empires, fuck children behind altars and in the orphanages they open for all the children whose parents were killed by the religious wars the church foments every other generation. The Maronite society is today a cesspool of highly individualistic mercantile moneymakers without any sense of community or shared living. In collusion with the other criminal entreprises of the Shiite and Sunni and Druze communities, they have turned Lebanon into a dog-eat-dog society where no one cares about any one else, yet they all congregate in their stupid churches and mosques to pray like idiots, repeating blatherings they don;t even understand because they don;t mean anything rational....
One of the ironies of history is that Christianity, when it was brought to Lebanon by fucking Jesus and his disciples and then by the Romans and Mar Maroun, it erased our true identity. Christianity in the early centuries of the religion was like Islam today. It was totalitarian. You could not be saved outside the church. And so, the Lebanese, back then known as Phoenicians, lost their cultural identity to their religious one. The Phoenician gods and goddesses were renamed as saints. Our original places of worship were replaced by churches. Everything that gave us our identity was obliterated because we now became Christians, like any other Christian in the Roman world. We were no longer even Roman citizens. We were now Christians.
So when the MAronite Church claims to have given Lebanon its identity, it is lying. The Maronite Church in fact took away our identity as Phoenicians, and replaced it with a Christian identity. So when a few centuries later, the fucking Arab-Muslims came as conquerors, we no longer knew who we were, and so half of us became Muslims, and ever since we have been killing and massacring one another as Christians and Muslims. The Christian religion in Lebanon destroyed the true identity of the Phoenician people, much as Islam today continues to try and destroy the national and ethnic identities of millions of people around the world under the guise of unifying them around fucking Mohammad and his fucking religion.
So to the Maronites of Lebanon and everywhere they are (because generally no one outside of Lebanon has ever heard of you, except for the occasional Western researcher who tries to make sense of your stupidity): FUCK YOU. FUCK MAR MAROUN. FUCK BATRAK RAHI. FUCK YOUR FORNICATING NUNS AND PRIESTS. FUCK YOUR COLLUDING FEUDAL LORDS of the GEMAYELS, CHAMOUNS, EDDEs, KHAZENs, AOUNs, FRANGUYEHs etc.... To the Lebanese people who do not subscribe to any of the religious crap that keeps them swarming in the Lebanese cesspool: Rebel against them. Stop believing their bullshit. Liberate yourselves from the chains of history and predetermination. Prove to the world that you truly a free people, and not some amalgam of racist mountain brutes and vile seacoast merchants who would sell their blood and their mothers for a dollar or a Lebanese lira. Show the world for once that you are truly civilized, in the sense of the true humanistic civilization that cares for every human being, for every tree, for every man, woman and child all over the world. Unfortunately, we are so removed from all of this that I doubt any of us today will see that day in our lifetimes.
