Where is Freedom of Opinion in Lebanon?

These actions by the Lebanese government and security services is the latest in a series of acts censoring the very freedoms that Lebanon claims to uphold.(See news below).

When compared to the freedoms rising throughout the Arab world, these actions show that Lebanon continues to recede into a backwater of repression and tyranny. Lebanon is no longer the island of freedoms in the Arab world, it is now the ONLY Arab country where repression is official policy and where there are no freedoms. Add to it the abysmal violations of human rights in Lebanon's prisons, the virtually non-existent basic services of water, electricity, phone, etc..., the continued rape of the environment and the Mediterranean by the businesses owned by the same corrupt politicians who impose censorship, the primitive religious mindset that oversees the entire political process, the rampant corruption that makes Lebanon the 6th most corrupt nation on earth, etc.... and you wonder where do the Lebanese find the gall to continue making their megalomaniacal claims of Lebanon's superiority to the other Arab countries.

With Army Chief Jean Kahwaji going to Washington DC to beg the Americans for weapons to his shitty army, Lebanon has never ceased to be a nation of beggars. We live on handouts from both West and Arabs. We do not pay taxes. We steal public funds right and left. We are a nation of filthy beggars who contribute nothing to the world other than our corruption and our self-centered narcissism about how great we are, when we are deep in excrement up to our eyeballs. And, to top this whole charade of a nation, we are the only pathetic tiny asshole of a country that is still fighting the Israeli "enemy". In fact, our so-called "Speaker" (who has been Speaker for close to 30 years after a career as a used car dealer in Detroit, Michigan) Nabih Berri, one of the most corrupt politicians to ever walk the earth, has recently declared from Tehran (where he went to collect his mercenary money) that "Lebanon is Israel's main competitor". I wonder how can this be when we have no running water, no electricity, no Internet, and no telephones to speak of... when our roads and streets become open sewers the moment it rains; when we keep producing Saints and Divine Bastards while Israel just produced a Nobel prize in chemistry and Yemen a Nobel prize in peace; when we can barely keep the water that runs down our hills and have no idea how to turn it into the electricity that we badly need, and yet we want to drill for gas in the Mediterranean; ...

Yup, the Lebanese young people see all this and truly believe that Lebanon is a promising country where they can build a future.
