Hezbollah Attacks Italian UNIFIL Peacekeepers in Lebanon

After a long record of attacking and bombing Western peacekeepers in Lebanon (US Marines and French Paratroopers in 1983), killing, kidnapping, and holding Westerners hostages (the infamous Western hostages of the 1980s and 1990s) , and hijacking planes (TWA flight 847 in 1985),;

After mobilizing and inciting the Shiite villagers of the Lebanese south against UNIFIL for the past 4 years, and deliberate attacks against UNIFIL whenever UNIFIL is called upon to investigate Hezbollah "accidents" in which suspicious bombs and explosions go off (example: Tayr Felsay), or to investigate Hezbollah's massive illegal smuggling of weapons and missiles from the Syrian dictatorship across the border into Lebanon;

Cornered north of the Litani, lest it violates UNSCR 1701, and watching its Syrian ally fall to the Syrian people's Intifada against the murderous and war criminal Baathist entity in Damascus led by the butcher Bashar Assad, Hezbollah and its terrorist-in-chief Hassan Nasrallah has no option but to resort to violence against UNIFIL in order to get itself out of the defeat and irrelevance that Hassan Nasrallah and his terror organization have become.

One interpretation for why Hezbollah chooses this specific time to attack the Italian UNIFIL convoy near Sidon, in the south of Lebanon, is that Hezbollah's pupeteers in Damascus are increasingly desperate to deflect attention from their own predicament and imminent demise. Even the Russian jackass Medvedev has finally relented and demanded that Assad stop promising and deliver actions toward reforms. Hezbollah's attack against the Italian peacekeepers of UNIFIL is a message by Syria and Iran that they will not go down without bringing the temple with them, consistent with the statement by one of the criminals of the Baath regime (Makhlouf ) that if Syria goes unstable, then Lebanon and Israel will also go unstable.

I predict more violence against UNIFIL in the coming days and weeks. This time the message is a serious and definitive one, and will not see a return to the status quo ante. Six Italian peacekeeper were injured when a UN convoy was targeted by a bomb in southern Lebanon, officials said.
The explosion occurred on a busy highway leading to the city of Sidon. A spokesmen for the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon said the bomb had been aimed at a logistics convoy.
Italian soldiers have had a presence in Lebanon since the late 1970s. In 2008 Italian president Silvio Berlusconi vowed to maintain Italy’s military presence to help consolidate democracy.
